I really enjoyed this class. Mandatory attendance, but I usually wanted to go anyway. Instead of a textbook, Dr Marcus provides the readings (one essay before every class) so printing can be expensive but that is still far less than a textbook obviously.

There is no "textbook" but you have to print every reading assignment (most 20+ pages) so that can get expensive. The only grades are the midterm, final, one paper, and participation. He's very strict on participation grades. He gives the questions on the tests as study guides for you to fill out. The paper has very clear criteria. Great professor.

Dr Marcus is a really good professor. He is unbiased and makes lectures interesting. Be prepared to only have 4 grades all semester. Tests were scaled some and possible to make As on. But he's strict about the participation grade.

Dr. Marcus is the coolest guy in the world. My favorite class in Auburn so far! You have to pay attention, and just make a couple of comments each class. Before tests and the paper, he is very upfront with what he is looking for. He is always very helpful during office hours and is overall an interesting guy.

two tests, paper, and participationgrade, each worth 25% of grade. Required to talk in class even though everyone just states the obvious just to get the credit. He requires participation bc he likes to show off intellect by smugly shooting down your ideas. No technology in class. absolutely insane amount of reading printouts, huge waste of paper.

Dr. Marcus is all about participation. If you don't come to class you won't pass. Only has about 5 grades for the whole semester. Also expects you to have the reading material of every class which can get expensive.

Dr. Marcus is an utterly unique human being who cares more about the subject of Philosophy than anyone I've ever met. He has a teaching style that demands you take part in doing real philosophy.

Dr. Marcus is really cool. Attendance is mandatory. He doesn't make you buy a book, but he makes you print out and bring all the readings to class. NO TECHNOLOGY in class. Participation is a quarter or your grade, which kind of sucks if you're really shy. His tests are kind of hard if you don't know the material like the back of your hand.

Attendance:Mandatory. Participation counts, need to contribute to class. He loves a teacher's pet! You'll definitely get an A. 2 tests and one paper. One of the tests IS THE FINAL. For the paper, go to his office hours and you'll get an A. He can get confusing, but form a study group with you classmates and an A will be easy! Def take him. Easy A.

Dr. Marcus gives very interesting lectures that are unbiased and fun. Attendance is mandatory, but I have never had a problem showing up. I never thought I would be too interested in philosophy, but I find myself looking forward to this class more than any others! Take good notes and the two tests aren't bad. Would definitely recommend

One of the classes I have taken at Auburn. It helps if you have an interest in philosophy. Marcus is a boss. He is very cerebral and relaxed. Don't try to argue with him, he can come up with counterarguments that will shut you down. This class definitely opened my mind and changed my thinking. Exams are hard, but do your reading and you will do wel

Dr. Marcus is great. It's easy to get lost in the readings and get confused but he explains them really well in class. His attendance policy isn't clear but I'm pretty sure he'll fail you if you miss more than a few days. He keeps his personal views out of the class and doesn't tell you what to think. The class itself is discussing based and fun.

Dr. Marcus is phenomenal. He is one of the only ethics or philosophy professors I know who takes his own view out of the equation and focuses on each author's view. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to take this class.
