Best teacher at LMU!!! She rocks! Really want to take another class with her. She makes the other screenwriting teachers at LMU look stupid. Class attendance is mandatory but you will do well if you come and meet writing deadlines.

Comment:

Erica Byrne is great- she's not difficult and she has had real experience as a screenwriter so she knows what she's talking about. True, alot of this class is your own initiative and talent level, but she was extremely helpful and a great teacher. I would definitely recommend her!

Comment:

Prof Byrne is about as serious and straight forward as they come. She means well, but if you get on her bad side she'll definitely call you out on it. But you'll learn a lot and in the end you'll be a better writer because of all her criticism. Not for wimps but highly recommended if you're serious about screenwriting.

Solid, straightforward class. Meet deadlines with a quality product and you'll leave with a good grade and a first draft of a TV spec script. I'd have liked to see harsher criticisms from her on my pages -- most were left un-annotated. Comes from a little bit of an old-school perspective.

What a total ****. I am apalled how she treated her students. I saw her make one girl cry and she is such a bitter woman you can feel it coming through her icy smile. I hope she retires and makes this world a better place. I got an A in the class but she is a **** of a woman.

Comes across sort of intimidating at first, but her class gets to be fun and you workshop a lot and get lots of class input. My only complaint is she doesn't clarify the assignments well, so always double check with her! Her class is still my fave though.

Tough seeming, but you start class with an A, only way you don't come out with an A is if you miss deadlines.
