I loved her as a person, but her class seriously makes you work for it. You get as much out of it as you put in. Its a small, engaging and fun class. You definitely must be fluent enough to speak, write, and understand. She genuinely cared about our success and advancements. A little tough on grading, yet fair.

Online courses are always very hard but Prof. Roman-Mendoza tries to make it easier by giving a lot of opportunities to earn credit. Not easy but worth the effort.

Never. Again. She gives little to no explanation but deducts points from assignments for not having a clear concept of something you're basically teaching yourself. The weekly work load didn't get any lighter, even with multiple group projects, final project, final paper, etc. She focuses on CORPUS but you better be able to teach yourself to use it

Ok, so this class is writing intensive. 4 proyectos, 5 diarios, weekly blackboard posts, some quizzes. The assignments were helpful, but so repetitive for 15 weeks. There's a final interview where you have to meet with her on campus, but it literally takes 2 seconds. She usually grades assignments in a timely manner and gives feedback on everything

Hard at first to adjust to the class because lots of homework with Projects (750-1000 words) every 2-3 weeks. Activities and journals every week (grade booster!), but she is always available for help via email or blackboard. Updates grades quickly. Really nice and helpful, but sometimes hard to understand why we are learning some of the content.

She's a very strict Spanish writer and will catch most things. She grades hard in order for you to become a better writer and use the language differently. Her quizzes and assignments are specific so make sure you do the readings before attempting any assignment. If you have questions, ask her, but not a day before the assignment is due

The work is overwhelming and stressful. Professor is nice but the work just ruins the class experience. This class should not be offered during the summer because there is too much content to cover in too little time. Speaking assignments were annoying.

This is an online class- so expect a lot of homework. The material itself isn't complicated, but the workload is overwhelming. It was pretty stressful at some points. But if you don't procrastinate and complete the assignments ahead of time, then you should be golden. There are weekly journals, 5 projects, online exercises, and a final portfolio.

Profesor Roman-Mendoza is a very helpful and caring profesor. She assigns more homework than some other spanish classes I have taken but she really just does it to help the students learn and become better writers. I would recommend her for any spanish classes you would like to take. She makes class fun and interesting and will help you if you ask.

I took this class online and because of that there was a lot of busy work. There were things to turn in every thurs, fri, sat and sun. So, my weekends disappeared, but the material wasn't very hard. The class itself was just time consuming bc of all the assignments. That being said, Esperanza iS awesome and willing to help you as much as you need.

Mrs.Roman is very helpful and super nice. For exams("pruebas"):Read the book and review things done in class. She takes 5 pts off your grade for every absence,so go to class no matter how boring you think it is. You have HW to show/to turn in pretty much every class. Show that you're trying and she will help you. Slack and you'll get a C or D.

She is one of the kindest professors I have ever had! She is willing to help you whenever you need it. Often she allowed corrections on assignments to be made and resubmitted i believe. Attendance not mandatory but is maybe 10% of the grade. Excellent professor! Take her classes if you can! Also had her for Span 461

This is an easy class if you are a native speaker (Spanish). But is not hard for those that want to learn. She is excellent, the best professor ever, very helpful, no exams, but a lots of homework, 3 projects.

She is a great teacher- easy to understand and makes class interesting. Very willing to help and clarify. As long as you do the readings and contribute in class, you'll do well on the midterm/final (both essay based). There was also a portfolio due @ end of semester, but we worked on most of it in class. I would def. take another class with her!
