He is a very smart guy, no doubt. Does that correlate with him being a good instructor? NO. He expects students to have same level of understanding on every topic he teaches. He speaks like a rapper and writes stuff on the board which no one can decipher.

He doesn't give homework nor does he help you with the practice problems in the book. He goes too quickly in class so there's no time to ask questions. He makes students feel like their lack of knowledge in the subject is their fault. You're going to have to retake this class with someone else.

Hardest class i've taken. The professor is obviously an expert at Calculus. Where the professor fails is educating others. During lectures the professor spoke at a very low volume at 90 mph. Most of the time it sounded like mumbling. No calculators were allowed. Even the mention of calculators seemed to set the professor off in a math rage.

I'm a pre-med chemistry major and this was the hardest class I've taken at UTC. He grades very tough and gives hardly any partial credit. I tried so hard for this class and went to tutoring twice a week, but still failed it. I will be taking this class at Chatt State next semester. Please don't put yourself through this class with Schlereth...

Dr. Schlereth has incredible energy. He'll keep you engaged and on your toes. His Calc II class is very difficult. I absolutely recommend taking him if you can be on your game. His insight into the subject matter is unparalleled and he will challenge your understanding of the material in all the right ways. It's a rough battle, but very worth it.

TAKE THIS TEACHER! This is NOT an easy class, but he is hilarious and a great teacher. He really wants the students to learn and makes jokes while teaching. If you have questions, go to his office hours, he is very helpful and will make sure you know how to do the problems. Work the problems the way he works them or he may not give you credit.

This professor was horrible. He doesn't use the textbook, doesn't use blackboard. No matter how confused the class is, he won't push a test or quiz back.

Do not take this man if you can avoid him for 1010. Actually, avoid the class if at all possible. I struggled the entire semester and repeatedly asked for help. He has weekly quizzes and a test every two weeks that he never pushes back no matter how lost his students get. I spent hours studying for his exams and still was not successful. GPA killer

I took him for Modern math and got an A. I might have studied for an hour all semester. If you do well on the tests and quizzes you don't have to take the final. He didn't follow the textbook well but all the test questions were just like the examples in class. He moved thru material quickly but would go back and do it again if you didn't get it.

I took him for modern math, worked extremly hard and barely made a C. He is extremly confusing and does not offer any help understanding the material. His tests and exams are nothing like the homework he assigns. All around a confusing and bad professor. Oh, and he gives his political opinions in class.

Probably one of the smartest people I've ever met. Teaches at a dizzying rate, but makes tons of jokes. The material is easy if you know your calculus but the tests/quizzes can be brutal. We started the class with about 40 students, 9 were there on the last day.

Seems intimidating, but totally awesome. I have heard a lot of people say that he doesn't give out A's, but I and other students I know have gotten plenty of them. The thing about him is that he has SUPER high expectations of you and you must work for your grade.

Afraid I did not pass the class. He teaches all the material ok for the most part, except for the last section, seemed like he wante to be done with it. He does add a lot of ideas that the book does not use and you need to know for the tests/quizes. He was not the greatest about office hours. For everyone of the quizes the class needed more time

TAKE HIM. IT'S WORTH THE TEARS. This dude will make you question EVERYTHING. He's the perfect professor to answer the 'why does this work' part of mathematics. His tests are hard but he is willing to help out. Either way, this is a hard professor that you have to EARN your grade, not an easy A professor. TAKE HIM. IT'S WORTH THE STRUGGLE.

He is a very difficult teacher but if you are willing to put in the work he is willing to work with you. I had all A's until this class but I still ended up with a high B. If you show him how hard you are working outside of class he is more than willing to give extra help during office hours. Better to ask questions after class than during.

All "A"'s in math before this, and I have never dropped a class before. This class destroyed my enthusiasm for math. He lectures VERY quickly and I found that you have two choices. One, listen and try to comprehend it. Two, take notes and try to figure it out later. Even the tutors in the math lab were shaking their heads in disbelief at him.

I'm not gonna lie: this class is hard, especially the first half of the semester. The tests are hard and too long for an hour, and he talks really fast. But once you've made it halfway through, and you've put in the work, you start to feel like you've learned something. You come out of the class feeling confident going forward into Calculus.

This professor is nice and willing to help you, but he is still extremely difficult. He grades very harshly. You could have worked everything correctly and gotten the sign wrong and receive NO partial credit. Also expects a lot of memorization-unrealistic amount and doesn't allow calulators on exams 1 and 2. Unless highly motivated, don't take him
