Comment:
I have never had a problem with a professor until this one. Not only are his lectures irrelevant and skippable, he often gets off track about his own life (mostly bragging). He will NOT help with problems you have and is the least understanding prof I have ever came across. The course is not bad but trust me DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.

Best professor UofG. Does not believe in typical textbook education (so he is not test-heavy). Genuinely cares about his students and their success. Get to know him on a personal level, and be professional during lectures and presentations. Be proactive, enthusiastic, and ask questions - he will tell you exactly what he is expecting.

Comment:
Interesting prof and accessible after class, but going to lectures was a waste of time. Spends the majority of lectures telling irrelevant stories. Then gives you tough midterms and marks your papers even tougher. Might as well just go through the textbook thoroughly and practice theory/calculations. Disappointed by the lack of in-class learning.

Fantastic Professor. No one has taught me more at the university of Guelph than Francis. Don't let his old age, bright teeth and wacky teaching style fool you. No one at that school will prepare you better for the real world than him. Get to know him outside of class and he will lead you to greatness. Guaranteed.

Prof overlooks good idea in the favour of good english and grammer. Most of time he has no idea what he is talking about. Will only recommend his class if you want to improve English not your imagination about the wonders of Economics.

Great Prof! He will like you if you put a lot of effort into his class! And believe me, you want him to like you. He has high expectations for his students, however, he rewards you for your hard work. He truly cares about his students and wishes them well in their careers after attending university. My favourite prof in all my years at Guelph.

Class is very interesting a bit, prof tended to stray from the topics quite a bit and told way too many personal stories for my liking. One thing that really bothered me about this prof is he played favorites and made it blatanly obvious, so someone always coming to class and putting in effort would get the same marks as a student that spoke french

Francis Tapon is the real deal. A great guy with a witty personality, ready and willing to help at any time. Most complaints will stem from students who refuse to attend classes, do their homework, or study for exams. In my 4 years at Guelph, he was the one prof I actually warmed up to - A top notch class act. It's a shame he isn't still there.

He is a very hard marker, but he is very knowledgable. He pays extreme attention to details in your paper and is very specific in what he wants. He WILL help you if you ask for it, so make sure you do.

The worst teacher at U of G, does not teach you anything, he is to busy spending all his lecture time telling stupid stories and name dropping. He teaches nothing but yet gives out very hard midterms. Is very subjective in marking. He isn't a very bright man either.
