Kevin is a great guy. I only had him for one month because he took medical leave a couple weeks into the semester. I was happy to see him active and doing well the following semester. As a teacher, he's very solid. Kevin teachers well and cares about his students and will help them to get out of theory what they want. Take theory and aural.

Prof Dewey was one of the coolest prof you'll ever have. He's a nice, regular guy. Easily approachable. Never had an issue with him. He tells some goofy jokes, but he knows that they are corny, that's what makes them funny. Passionate about teaching. I'll see him at school here & there and he's always very friendly. Great prof & stand-up guy.

OMG he is literally not good. I took this class 5 times and i failed 4, thank god i passed. he hates me. he grades me wrong. all because i didn't laugh at his jokes. so please, for your own sake, for your grade and future, LAUGH at his lame jokes. i laughed last semester and i passed.

Comment:

I was scared to take music lit because I have no knowledge about music and very little interest in it. However, my nerves were suppressed after my first day in Mr Dewey's class. He was very nice and always offered help to anyone who needed it. Even if this class is a requirement for you, like it was for me, he made it enjoyable. I'd recommend him.

Excellent prof. who knows the material inside and out. Classes are hilarious and fly by, yet are still extremely informative. Has brief mood swings, but other than that, he is a flawless prof. If you have the opportunity, take Dewey!

Garth Kevin Dewey is the bomb! Besides teaching vocal classes at HFCC, he also directs Dearborn's select choir, the Vanguard Voices. I'm in the Dearborn Community Chorus, so I see him from time to time.

Mr. Dewey is the man. I don't know what these people are talking about with him being intimidating, I think he's very approachable, and he knows his jokes are lame..that's what makes it funny. He's a great teacher and I would recommend him to anyone. The only negative thing I can agree with is that he does miss a considerable number of classes.

Kevin is an extremely dedicated person. Music is his life and it shows through the passion he conveys in classes. He can come off as arrogant, but it's because he knows what he wants and how to get it. It can be hard to handle at times, but once you get used to his personality, it's not so bad. Good guy overall!

He may be corny but he is still demanding as a teacher, and the combination works well. His high energy is mesmerizing. He is well prepared and doesn't waste much rehearsal time. He uses positive reinforcement to reward us and somehow manages to make each student feel valuable, even in a large choir. "Liberation" showed them who is Detroit's best!

This guy is so scary! I was afraid to talk to him the whole semester. Hes very intimidating. PLus his jokes are totally not funny. Seriously get him a joke book for christmas or something. Too bad hes the only choir teacher and he never shows up to class.

HE IS RUDE!!!!!!!! He thinks hes so funny but hes not. he never shows up to class and makes his TA teach it and it sucks. The choir sounds good but Dewey is rude and arrogant. He also makes you scared to talk to him.
