He was super funny and class was always very informational, but there is a lot of work outside of class that you have to do. A lot of the grade is on Lab Hours which are outside of class and take up a lot of time, so get yours early if you want a good grade.

The course was VERY disorganized. You need to be responsible for asking the right questions and knowing everything, because if you don't know something you might still be held accountable for it. THIS COURSE WILL EAT UP ALL YOUR TIME. Don't take it if it can't be your priority! Lots of late nights, especially during your show assignment!

Comment:

Classes with Brother Benson are the easiest to pass in the department. If you're into that sort of thing, go for it. I however like to learn. His classes are just story time with Benson and if you take the tech class you learn more from Brother Ray and other students than you do from him. Plus he thinks he's all high and mighty and he's not.

Benson is great. I love him. His class is very difficult bc of the 60 volunteer hrs and tech for one show requirement. Ton of out of class work but you learn a lot. Benson hates laziness and the extra mile is practically a requirement. He's very kind. Tells a lot of stories at the beginning of the semester. GET AS MUCH TECH EXPERIENCE AS YOU CAN!

I love Bro. Benson so much. He genuinely cares about each of his students. He has a great background with tech theatre and is very humble about it too. His stories are hilarious as are his mannerisms. I would take any class from him. He's a great mentor and friend as well. I highly recommend him.

Brother Benson may not be the easiest teacher all the time, but he is the best I've had here in the department. He has always been there for me when I've needed help or someone to talk to. He is very spiritual, experienced, and intelligent. He has so much to teach in and out of the class. If you have the option to take a class from him, DO IT

Brother Benson is great! Be prepared to laugh and learn at the same time. You are expected to do some hands on labor in this class for lab. You will also be required to work a BYUI theatre production in a backstage position. One of my favorite teachers who really understands the struggles and positives of life. Very encouraging!

You start with 3 hours of classes in the week, plus 2 hours of labs, but then you must do 40 hours of work outside of class, plus work tech on a show and basically lose an entire month of your life. Only do this if you really love theater.

Such an easy teacher, he tells you exactly what to do to get an A, and you can turn in assignments whenever before midterms or finals. You watch one movie a week with a short and easy quiz, and the rest of your grade is based off of online chapter tests and a few easy essays. Class is just discussion, you don't even have to say anything. Easy!

Such a cool guy! He is really funny and just a nice guy. You can really tell that he loves what he does. The work is really easy, we had to write a couple essays, but they are the easiest things ever. Its a class about watching movies... whats hard about that? nothing. He says whats he honestly thinks, which I enjoyed. I definitely recommend him!

I took him tech theater class in the summer a while ago and still remember most of it, and I dont hardly ever use it any more. Loved his class, loved him. He loves jokes and makes learning fun and intreasting. I'd say he's my favorit teacher hands down.
