He is very harsh. Will downgrade you all the time. If you accidentally mess up on something, he will make sure to make you feel bad about it. He is very rude. I will not be taking him ever again and would not recommend him to anyone. If he is the only class left open DO NOT take the class it is not worth it.

Comment:

Dr. Gary Findley proved to be one of the most degrading, immature, and disappointing professors I have ever had. I love chemistry, and I credit him for knowing a great deal about it but he would purposefully make students feel bad about any answer and would deem them wrong to his standards. He provided an extremely poor learning environment.

Comment:

I would not recommend anyone take Dr. Findleys class. Yes, its THAT bad. He is degrading to students and shows no signs of caring about your success. Sig figs and precision are everything. He is unapproachable and interrupts your speaking/questions often. His demeanor makes for a not-so-learning-friendly atmosphere. His class was a nightmare.

Professor Findley is extremely smart, but is very condescending about it. He hates when students are not as smart as him, and will not hesitate to make you feel like an idiot if you think you know the answer. Never raise your hand in his class. When you tell him "Have a good day!" he will stare blankly at you. Do not take him if at all possible!

He was absolutely terrible. He was so mean and I ended up dropping the class by the 5th class. I came from a small school and had never worked in a chemistry lab. He made fun of me when I didn't know how to use different things and told me to "figure it out". DO NOT TAKE HIM

Dr. Findley is a very good professor. His lab was very easy to me and the class is straight forward all you have to do is print the lab manual from his link on Moodle and read it and all the answers and step are there. He can be rude sometimes and make fun or people but all in all a good professor who makes sure you know the material.

Dr. Findley is caring at times. You have to work to receive the grade that you want. Make sure you do the practice quiz and lab before entering class because he will not go over it if a hand full didn't do it. Just know your materials and you'll be fine. Best of LUCK !

Rough exterior. Takes some getting used to but you just can not take things personal. He doesn't like to make it easy for you but for your own benefit. If you're taking any of his classes and want to pursue something related then you better know your stuff. If I had another teach for the same class I wouldn't have learned as much as I did.

Least pleasant teacher I've ever had. It's not hard to get an A if you do the practice data, but they can be difficult some weeks... And putting up with him is the hard part. He did get better after the drop date, but he loves intimidating kids and making them feel stupid. Caused the most unnecessary stress. Perfect teacher to weed out students.

Professor Findley will single out students. If you are in a sorority, you should never wear your letter because he will make fun of it. Pre-lab sessions are lengthy. Quizzes are given on the material that you are covering that day.

Professor Findley is rude, but he is very knowledgeable. If you want to easily pass this lab, watch videos of the lab you have to complete that week. He posts practice quizzes that are very identical to the actual quiz you take every lab. Compared to other chemistry teachers, he's mean.... BUT his class can be easier than others....

I had no choice but to take Findley, so I was prepared for the worst due to what I have heard. In all honesty, it was horrible at first, but it got better throughout the semester. He will provide practice quizzes and lab reports on the class moodle page- DO THEM! Come to class prepared and read the lab manual before class.

He will tell you what is done, but won't tell you how it is done. The only thing that saved me in this lab is my attendance and my actual lab work. TIPS: If you take Findley, be sure to watch the procedures of the lab on youtube few hours before the lab. Also, review the quiz questions before each class meeting.

Probably one of the worst professors on campus. Doesn't really respect students all that much. Don't be scared of him though. He's just an old man. The class is really easy on the other hand. He puts practice quizzes online that are pretty much exactly like the quizzes he gives in class. Make sure to do them though.

He likes to talk about random things that have nothing to do with chemistry. He likes to embarrass you if you don't know the answer. Your partner's mistakes will be blamed on you. If he makes a mistake it will be blamed on you. He has no indoor voice. But the pop quizzes and lab are bearable if you study and read beforehand. He's scary but okay.
