Comment:

Honestly the best and least boring english class I have taken. He is a very engaging instructor and makes discussion easy. He assigns quiet a bit of work and there are reading quizzes, but it helps if you struggle in certain areas. He is very helpful and does a lot to make sure your writing is going well and on track.

Comment:

He's really a great professor, respectful towards his students and the work is what you should expect from a college class. He assigns quite a bit of HW but starts out with fairly easy work which slowly progresses towards more complexity building on what you have already learned. Grading and Sunday night due dates are a little petty. Great overall.

Mr. Hurley is my favorite professor at CFCC! His class was always a pleasure to be in. The work load is not bad, I would say it is pretty average. There are no tests or quizzes. He does everything he can to make sure his students understand the assignments in order to receive a good grade. I highly recommend taking his ENG 114 class.

Hurley is one of the best English teachers I have ever had. I took his hybrid class, so we only met once a week. There are discussion forums that you will have to participate in but they're easy. You will have at least one other assignment per week and he will go over in class how to do it. There aren't any tests, but you can only miss five classes

He makes a usually dull class quiet interesting. Not to hard to pass if you keep up with homework and just follow his instructions on the papers (3 papers throughout the semester, not longer than 5 pages).

There are no tests, but there are about 2 reading quizzes per week. There are 3 broad topic essays, which account for a lot of points. I didn't think they were tough at all, but many people disagreed w/ me, so if you struggle w/ writing essays, maybe this is not the most ideal English class to register for. Other than that, he's a great teacher!

Mr. Hurley is one of the best teachers i have ever had. He is not an easy teacher, and he will call you out on cliches or ignorance. However, i have learned so much from his lessons and discussions. He is extremely helpful, and if you do the work, read the material, and use his office/writing lab hours, you WILL get an A. Only negative is homework.

Best english teacher at cfcc. Very clear, funny, and relaxed...I enjoyed class everyday. Class work wasnt too difficult but still learned something new every class.

Class was a hybrid. Assignment are due in a very organized manner. He's not the most helpful when you have questions. Very Type A personality. SERIOUS about tardies and phone usage. I didn't like the class, but I did learn a few tips that will helping my emailing and letter writing abilities.

Mr Hurley is one if the best teachers ive had. He made my 8am fun to go to. I learned a lot of stuff in his class that I will be able to use in the future. I would recommend him to anyone. And not to mention he is very nice looking!

Overall, he's a good teacher. His grading was a little stiff sometimes, but he was quite helpful. I would recommend taking a hybrid not online only. I met with him in his office a couple of times and he was more understandable and helpful then thru email and blackboard.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. He really teaches in a way that will actually help you in life, unlike most classes and teachers. His humor is awesome. Idk if that's because of 420 or not but either way, he's awesome. He's very down to earth and easy to talk to. Plus, he's more than willing to help if you need it. Made the class easy. A+++

Mr. Hurley definitely makes Literature fun. You'll never be bored in his class! Just make sure you read all the short stories he assigns for homework because you'll be quizzed on it every class. Also, DO NOT use your cell phone in his class. He's a nice guy but will kick you out for cell phone use.

I loved Mr. Hurley! Best English teacher I've ever had. Instructions were clear, a lot of petty reading but make sure you do it! it helps with the extra credit on the small reading quiz's. Essay's were easy to write and short. His grading is very fair! He's funny and makes the class fun. We were always laughing in class. I highly recommend him!

Professor Hurley is a good teacher. Instructions about what he expects are crystal clear. He will kick you out of class in-front of all if you come to class with no more tardies left. His assignments aren't too much. One 3-5min speech on career of interest-no biggie. I enjoyed this class and his tongue-in-cheek humor. ENG114? Choose this teacher :D
