Comment:
I took calc in high school, so I had solid knowledge of the subject before 1271. This class would have been impossible without previous experience. Gennady just isn't that great at explaining things and his lectures are full of irrelevant proofs. I will say, quiz and test questions are very fair based on the few examples he does do during lecture.

Very difficult professor. He is from a foreign country, so he is a little hard to understand; however, this doesn't detour him from teaching. The issue I really have is that he doesn't explain info helpfully, and makes fun of students who ask questions in lecture. Even with known calculus experience, the way that he teaches makes even me confused.

Comment:
I had no previous experience in Calculus (tested into 1271). I think Lyubeznik gets a worse rep than he deserves because he is hyper-intelligent but absolutely does not always make things easier to understand. His saving grace is he does a lot of examples, only problem is the examples he does in lecture will not make sense until your TA explains it

Class was determined by a curve at the end of the semester. You won't understand what's going on in lectures unless you read the textbook. Even then, his lectures are convoluted and do not make information from the textbook any easier to understand. I recommend taking class time to watch YT lectures like prof. Leonard, who helped me pass.

This class is not as difficult as everyone makes it seem. The exams and quizzes are significantly easier than the homework problems, and the class is curved in the end. Gennady's lectures are easy to understand, and he does many examples. He can come off as a bit rude, but he is a good professor. Take good notes and you will be fine.

The worst professor Ive ever had. He has no respect for his students and makes fun of people when he has the chance. He tells us that if we do the homework we will do fine on the tests but he makes the exams much harder than the homework. He goes on really long tangents about unnecessary proofs. His class was a waste of time, effort, and money.

His examples are actually pretty useful, but he isn't great at explaining things. If you understand his accent and sit near the front (his microphone is quiet), the class isn't terrible. Also, the homework isn't graded for some reason but you should still do at least some of it.

Gennady Lyubeznik is easily the hardest professor I have ever had at college. He made fun of students for asking questions in letures and his exams are much more complicated than the homework. Avoid at all costs.

Worst teacher I've had in my entire life. Goes through problems quickly, and will literally scoff at you and ignore you if you ask a question. Gets really annoyed when students don't perform really highly on the tests as well. Only reason I got through this class was because of Slader and the TA. I was doing 3 hours of HW a night.

Comment:
Lectures are nearly useless, and weekly discussions are lead by TA's that have no communication with him. This often results in weekly quizzes on topics/lessons not gone over in lecture. Gets pretty annoying considering they're 30% of your grade. His midterms aren't extremely difficult, but there's no study guide for them and they are not curved.

Does not teach well. Explains things in a complex way that makes is very hard to understand. Whenever students ask questions, he responds almost as if insulting them for asking. Lecture time is much better spent trying to teach yourself

An acquired taste for sure, but he gets an undeserved bad reputation on here. I would definitely not recommend skipping lecture as his examples are helpful. The tests he writes are fair and not unnecessarily difficult. He does assign a lot of HW but as long as you do at least, like, half of it you'll be fine.

Go to the first lecture, then don't go after that. His lectures are boring and uses confusing examples that don't help. A good TA can help, but you'll need to find other resources if your TA isn't good. Do good on the weekly quizzes, but know that the tests are not like the homework and quiz questions, unlike what it says in the syllabus.

Dude doesn't teach well even if you understand his accent and are already knowledgeable in calculus. I barely got an A and had basically already done Calc 1.

Lectures are worthless. Difficult gruff accent, constant coughing. Goes unnecessarily deep into confusing, irrelevant proofs we never needed to even be aware of for for Calc 1. Very few examples problems during lecture. Will often turn around and ignore, or scoff at a question asked in lecture. Steer clear if you need any teaching at all.

He is one of the most boring professors I have ever had. If you attend lecture you will get confused. You might as well just read the textbook or watch online videos. He once belittled a girl for asking a question and treated her like an idiot. He wears the same outfit every single day which is weird. Better hope your TA is good or you will fail.

This guy is a brutal professor. I don't think I've ever had a worse math teacher. The guy literally does not teach and gets mad if you don't know the answer. Would not expect anything more from the U considering how the math program here is brutal. Honestly head-scratching how this guy was hired in the first place

Very rude and not understanding. He would teach very fast and wouldn't slow down when asked. Was very hard to understand what he was saying. A good amount of students dropped out after the first mid-term. Would not recommend what so ever

The professor is not friendly and his lectures did not help at all. He expected the class to know things that some of us have never seen before. Read the textbook and do the hw problems then you should be okay for the weekly quizzes in discussions. The final is very difficult but there is a big curve in this course.
