Such a great professor. I struggled this semester due to my mental health but Lewis noticed I was falling behind & took the time to reach out to me, which I'm forever grateful for. He has a unique sense of humor which made lectures fun. He gives a TON of handouts which can be hard to organize. But overall this was such a great class. Thanks prof!

Professor Lewis is one of the best professors I've had at PCC. His humor made class really fun. He is very passionate about what he teaches which translates into great lectures. He has study guides in the library. Likes college basketball and is really kind. It was a pleasure to be in his class.

Comment:

Simply the best teacher I've ever had. Engaging, humorous, full of wisdom, very experienced in the field, old school cool, has lived in LA forever. Get off your phone and listen to the man. Previous tests available in library. Take great notes and draw everything he does. Reading the book helps, but the lectures are what you want. Diet Pepsi!

Comment:

Lewis is an all-around amazing professor. He has had a life time of experience in the field of geology and has therefore perfected his lesson plan. I was always late (sorry) but never wanted to skip this class as you learn so much and can easily fall in love with volcanos, quakes and minerals due to his charismatic and involved lectures. TAKE IT!

Prof. Lewis really knows his stuff, his lecture stories are amazing and he can draw incredibly detailed maps and cross sections in seconds. Has a lot of knowledge about chemistry, science, history, and how things work (not just geology). Not an easy class but you will learn a lot! Wishing he taught other GEOL courses at PCC. Thank you Prof Lewis!

He is by far one of my absolute professors here. Super funny guy and really easy to talk to. Didn't really use the textbook much despite what the syllabus says. Class is by no means really easy. HW is easy, but tests are a handful. He wants you to pass and he'll give you every chance to. Good note taking and lots of studying ARE A MUST to pass.

Prof. Lewis is a very kind hearted man that interacts with students, jokes time to time, and more than willing to help. Curriculum wise, it is very difficult to do poorly in this class. Prof. Lewis gives study guides and all previous tests could be found at the library, once he leaves it there. Just be sure to study and you should be fine.

Professor Lewis has been the best educator I've encountered. His expertise in the subject and his approach and style of teaching is incredible; it is so easy to understand and become engaged in his class. He always bridges the material to real life application, and he makes his tests and quizzes very straightforward. Take good notes and show up!

I am now a geology major because of professor Lewis! His lectures are crystal clear and writes and draws all notes on the board. His exams are pretty tough but if you put a good amount of time into studying it shouldn't be a problem. Take the class, you will not regret it! :)

Professor Lewis has more skill and teaching ability in his pinky than most do in their entire body, he is sadly underrated and very kind. It's really simply, don't skip class, take notes, pay attention, do the work and study. The most valuable advice is to take advantage of the PRACTICE TESTS!! he gives you everything you need to earn an A.

Prof. Lewis was the absolute best! His lectures are clear & entertaining. You will get so much more out of this class if you speak up and engage. Homework is easy points and tests are not difficult if you PAY ATTENTION, all test questions come from notes on the board. Great teacher who totally earned my respect and was fun to talk to & learn from!

Professor Lewis is a knowledgeable, kind, & caring instructor. To do well in this course it is essential to follow the very straightforward & simple instructions given. Lewis is a straight-forward professor at PCC and has taught longer than most. The class has a handful of tests, a mineral exam, and a homework folder. Doing the practice quizzes, looking at the sample tests, taking detailed notes, and showing up will net you a successful grade. Lectures are fresh and interesting. Commit hardness scale to memory.

Mr. Lewis has completed earned my respect this Fall semester. He is an amazing teacher and is extremely knowledgeable and hilarious. He is very clear on what he expects from students, honestly the people that got a bad grade in this class is simply because they didn't care. Professor Lewis you're awesome! I LOVED this class. Prof Lewis is a fantastic lecturer and is clearly passionate about the subject. His tests are tough but if you study and prepare you will do well. Everything on the tests is based off lecture and worksheets. He cares about his students and will help you succeed. Definitely recommend, nothing negative to say about him.

Best teacher i have ever had. I took this class because i needed it to transfer and i can say that i have never been more interested in any other class i have ever taken. He is simply wonderful, and so great at what he does. You won't have another teacher who holds your interest as well as he does while also making you understand the topic.

His lectures are so interesting that every time I was in his class I wanted to change my major to Geology. Great, funny, very clear lectures, and he knows soo much about Geology's place in other areas too such as history and politics. His tests are kind of tough and cover a lot of material but he's an easy grader on the written portions.

This class was awesome & its not even my major . If you want to take a science class that does not have a lot of math, take this one. Lectures are great and he is clear about everything he wants; there are no surprises. Tests are multiple choice and short answer. After the class is over you can impress your friends with your knowledge of minerals!
