gogel is a great chem professor-- super accessible and offers lots of help before tests and quizzes. also gives a LOT of partial credit on assessments and has very manageable homework assignments

Comment:

My experience with Gogel was mediocre. She's very sweet but the lectures were boring and sometimes hard to follow. Most of the time she would spend the whole class period writing problems on the board and just solving them, not actually teaching concepts or methods. She gives a ton of quizzes, and they aren't easy. A bit better in office hours.

Professor Gogels course was hard to follow. I did not gain a grasp of the big picture ideas but by showing up to class I learned how to complete the problems that would be on our test/quizzes which were not very hard.

She is a great professor but chemistry as a subject is pretty difficult. The S section is definitely helpful for tests and quizzes. She made chem easier and is very good at explaining things

Comment:

She explains material well and her tests are fair. Lots of quizzes and problem sets so there are plenty of grades in the class which is tedious but makes it easier to do well in the long run. Very nice but class is pretty boring, and sometimes she rushes to get material in before tests.

Comment:

Course covers a lot of material, but her S section definitely made the course much more manageable. As opposed to the regular lecture, this course gave a few extra days to force you to actually sit down and practice stuff at a relaxed pace. Emphasized group work, but she was very available for questions. She also gives snacks during the "S" days.

Reads off slides. Very unorganized, students are just given packets and look at a screen for 50 minutes. Tests are very wierd, marked very harshly. Topics that you went over for 20 seconds could be made into test questions just as likely as topics gone over for an entire period. Do not take classes with her, she doesn't know what she's doing.

Prof. Gogel is very helpful. She is honestly one of the best professors at Colgate. You can consult her concerning anything, and I really mean anything. She has been a great help since I started her class. If you want to pass your chem class, take her classes; she offers great help. Go to office hours.

Horrible class. She's so unorganized it's daunting. She loves to write a ton of things on the board. Always tests on the little things she mentions in class. She's nice but she can't teach to save her life. I will never take another class with her EVER again.

She drops on quiz and one test. However, she piles on Sapling HW and graded HW right before a test. Also, she tends to rush through lectures so you have to spend extra time studying to understand. S class helped me out so much.

Take S section it is 5 days a week instead of 3 but the 2 extra days she will help you one on one and she even brings breakfast. tons of quizes to bring grade up and drops lowest test score. very willing to help with students

An absolute sweetheart. I am terrible at chem and I was dreading it but I am so glad I got Professor Gogel, she is very slow and clear and makes everything relatable and understandable. If you can, I suggest her for chemistry!

Gogel is great. She's not the world's greatest chem teacher or anything, but YOU WANT HER compared to the other teachers. I'm awful at chem, but I managed to get a B in Chem 101. I got stuck with a different teacher for Chem 102 and I'm working so much harder and still failing. TAKE GOGEL if you're lucky enough!

Wonderful prof! I'm a Bio major and Chem is NOT my thing, but Gogel got me through 101 when no one else could. She's very patient and explains things in a way that absolutely everyone can understand. She's clear about what will be on tests, and if you go to class and do the work, you can't do poorly. Enroll in her S section and get breakfast too ;)

She is one of the easiest teachers out there. Shes is also very nice and also helpfull in office hours. If you do the practice problems in the book, the tests and quizzes are very simple. TAKE her.
