This class dragged my GPA down. I emailed this professor at the beginning of the term, I have my grades but no response from the professor. He basically just sets the course work and then grades appear at the end of the semester. Bottom line don't take his class! He is non existent!

All I know is DO NOT take his online class. He does not participate in group discussions, he does not answer questions to the professor, he does not provide clear detail on how to complete assignments or requirements for assignments, and he does not open the quizzes or exams until Thursday or later the week they are due. Worst Online Professor.

Dr. Matthews is a wonderful professor. His courses are rigorous and difficult due to the subject matter. He pushes you academically which is tough but results in a thorough understanding of the subject matter and stronger analytical skills. He is very helpful, fair and willing to work with his students. The course is challenging but worth it!

Awesome professor! I diffidently recommend taking his classes. This is not for those seeking an "easy A", but a class for those serious about going into the sciences and understanding Chem. You will have to work hard to EARN your grade, it is not given.

Love Dr. Matthews. Class was terrible. Put my heart and soul into this class just to get by with a C. I'm now struggling in Chem 2 because the info we are learning didn't have much to build off of... But on the plus side, the cute accent helps the time go by faster (:

This prof. is a nice guy and rather funny, however when it comes to the class, horrible, I gave it everything i had and still got a C. I am not a C student. Class average overall was in the 60% range. I think he wants students to push themselves but I think he takes it to far and sets you up for failure because the bar is TO high.

i'm not sure how this professor has a single good review. He was the worst prof. i have ever had. I was in an INTRO chem class and our work was stuff from chem 1 and 2. It was the hardest class i have ever taken and i haven taken all easy classes. If you ask for help he won't help you he only says to see the tutor. Do not take this professor!!!!!!!

Loved this Professor. He was genuinely passionate about Chemistry, as well as helping his students to understand. difficult class, but it's supposed to be. Work hard and ask questions and you will do fine. Favorite class so far.

Dr Matthews is awesome. He has extremely high expectations. But he will adjust the class to the students, their progress, and areas of struggle. Our class spent a lot of time laughing and expounding on the rediculously impossible questions, but in the end we learned chemistry. PS: he brings candy. and there's a curve.

This is a hard class but it's supposed to be. I truly learned chemistry instead of regurgitating formulas from the book. I learned more in this class than any other chemistry class I've taken. Exams are take home but hard and be prepared to spend a lot of time on them. You will need to study for the quizzes. Put in the work and you will understand.

Not going to complain because was warned by previous students. only five was left at the end. if you haft to take it take only one class. the tutours cant help much because they sometimes dont know what he is asking and when they go to him for clarification he confuses himself. just take anyone else especially if want to learn.

This was an extremely hard professor. It was too late to drop. There were very few students left in the end. I bought a solutions manual and made an A in the class, because of a curve. I had to have an A, because I wanted to get into nursing school. This was the hardest class I ever had to take and I have 69 credit hours. Drop him immediately!

My adivsor warned me about this guy so I droped him in time I couldnt find him buy name but my advisor found him under the school search. I know you need chem but if u fail what good is it u will haft to retake anyway. If you try u better drop by the first wk. Fire him!

All the bad ratings are right on target with this guy. He will tell you everything is alright and not to freak out and then you fail the test. His tests are extremely hard and have nothing to do with the hw. His hw is ridiculous because he assigns so much of it. Hes a nice guy, but I worked my butt off for a C

As stated in the other ratings, Professor Matthews was a TERRIBLE teacher. There was about 6 of us left at the end of the semester, and none of us really passed the course. He gives a ridiculous amount of homework that doesnt even reflect the tests. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS CLASS! I dont know how he has stayed employed by FSCJ

I am taking his Hybrid 2045 course and failing miserably along with the other remaining 9 students.WORST PROFESSOR EVER.Everyone with negative comments about this professor hit the nail on the head and described his class accurately. Started with 25+ people and class ended with 3. Must say something about the teacher. Chose a horrible homework program, assigned 200+ problems per week, and then his tests never even reflected the homework! Does not pay attention to any questions. If you want to pass without hoping your grade will be curved 50+ points don't take Dr. Matthews.
