I like Shakespeare, however I was intimidated for taking this class in college as a gen ed. She is by far the kindest professor I've had at UT. She is so knowledgable about Shakespeare and her passion gets you excited to come to class. She is a fair grader and lenient. If you are searching for an English class, do yourself a favor and take her!!!!!

Professor Hirschfeld is great at breaking down readings and helping everyone understand the texts. She is very caring and will work with you when you need help. I was worried about taking Shakespeare but she made it enjoyable and it actually ended up being one of my favorite classes this semester. I would highly recommend this class.

Hischfeld really really loves Shakespeare and knows it incredibly well. I wouldn't describe her as inspirational, but a solid choice if just for her enthusiasm. She grades pretty hard, expecting you to build really cohesive arguments in your papers. The tests weren't a cake walk either. Don't expect an easy grade here, you have to earn it.

Knowlegble, passionate, respectful. Great at making all students feel important. Lets class speak and work through it together. Undisputedly intelligent on the subject and still incredibly humble and truly interested in students opinions. You will learn Shakespeare, but also how to be a smart, effective human if you pay close enough attention.

I took a Shakespeare class from this teacher. The class is discussion based and we wrote papers over the topics we talked about in class. I highly recommend this class for those of you who learn through talking things out. Grades were easy if you put forth any effort. I learned much while boosting my GPA.
