He is a really nice prof and his passion for the subject is catching. However, he has a tendancy to ramble off topic and it is hard to figure out what material he is testing on. However, the class could get pretty boring, especially as he focuses a bit too much on arcitecture. It was an interesting course, but I think you need to be interested init

Prof. Williams is amazing, he made the course very interesting and it was really easy to understand him. You can tell he really loves what he teaches especially when it comes to underwater archaeology. He`s definitely approachable and you``ll want to take him again.

I would not recommend this course unless you have a previous thorough understanding of Greek Art. The review sessions were random and not helpful for exams. Exams themselves did not match what the instructor and TA suggested to study for them. Personally I was an enthusiastic attendee and now I feel like I struggled hard to just pass the exams.

I agree with the comment below. Though Hector knows his stuff, he leads such a dry lecture. He did NOT EVEN ONCE engage, address, or talk with the class during the lectures. Regarding character - very nice guy.

RUN! Unless you want to memorize an entire textbook, I'd recommend taking a pass on this course - especially as an elective. No clarity in expectations or guidance as to what will be on exams. Huge discrepancies between what the Prof says and how the TA marks. Useless review sessions. The absolute worst course I've taken.

i started off not liking the class cause he packed so much materials! but i ended up loving the class by the end of 2nd semester.. and found that the materials are very interesting! the prof talks really fast and the materials are very in-detail but the texts are helpful in terms of studying for exams. also, attending review classes help A LOT!

totally rambles on things not tested on. always talks away from the class and mumbers words, hard to keep up on what he says. marking isn't structured. doesn't like to talk to you outside of class. thinks he's funny. dims the lights so low you can't even see what he writes on the board. i hate him

Prof Williams is really nice, really intelligent and deeply, deeply boring. Maybe it's just me, but when they turn off the lights and throw on the 1000th floor plan of the term, my eyes snap shut. If you love floorplans of buildings that don't exist anymore and get excited about broken pots you will love this class.

Hector is really a very nice man, but cannot teach. His lectures contain WAY too much information and he doesn't really highlight what you need to know. He talks straight through the whole hour. Just remember the slides and memorize the dates.

Lots of knowledge, lectures packed with information, heavy contrast compared to first term lecturer. Deep understanding of ancient history, very helpful, responding promptly always by email; even provided unrequested personal feedbacks, helpful and flexible directing students for research, brought own projects to relevance in course material.

He is so nice and very understanding if you have personal problems. His lectures can stop time, but what do you expect from a 9:00 AM class? Read the text, go to class, write a good essay, and you will be okay.

Great guy - lectures somewhat boring, but informative. midterm is pure memorization of dates, locations and names, but finals require more knowledge. slide exams are not too difficult. essay topics are interesting. he's a fair marker. very understanding if you need to hdn something in late.
