I love professor Hacker, she is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about her subject. I have taken two courses with her to date, and I wish I could take more but she is retiring soon. She is great, but you must pay attention in lecture to do well.

Comment:

She doesn't prepare any kind of further explanation on her PowerPoints, so you'd better hope you'll listen and jot down what she says fast enough, otherwise you'll need to do your own further reading. She's all over the place with her commentary, as well, and all around just very very very hard to follow, making the course not engaging whatsoever.

Comment:

Knowledgeable prof. She's willing to help with questions and she was flexible enough to accept one of my papers late. Her lectures are slightly dull and she uses a lot of jargon without explaining during lectures. She provides a lot of reading which I definitely recommend you stay on top of if you want to pass her exams. I enjoyed her class.

Mixed feelings about her. I think I only got an A because I figured out early on that I'd have to work super hard to get it . I read every reading (there's LOTS) numerous times, and had to start studying for exams super early. Whenever I asked to meet with her in office hours, she'd say "I'm very busy." Good class, but really, really difficult.

I don't really understand the negative reviews. Katherine is an engaging lecturer and always very receptive to questions, willing to clarify when needed. She is an absolute wealth of information and very helpful during office hours. If you attend class and listen attentively, the exam shouldn't be too challenging!

Terrible prof all around. Doesn't reply to emails, and if she does it's too late. Hard to study for exams and expects ridiculous amount of information. She expects people know what shes talking about when she uses random Hindi words and then has to spell it out on the board. Don't bother taking her classes unless it is required.

She is an amazing Prof, who obviously loves the material she is presenting. I found the class to be a good difficulty level for me. It was clear what was expected out of you as well.

Very knowledgeable. Tough marker though, you don't expect it at first! She is very pleasant and uses a lot of her own images from her travels which is nice (sometimes you can spot her in them). She likes focusing on the deeper social/political/cultural meaning rather than small details of art/images.

Dr. Hacker is pleasant and tries to be helpful but she's a tough prof who expects a lot from her students. Sometimes its difficult to understand her lectures and expects students to memorize every detail and description for exams which is unrealistic. She also expects students to write an original paper based on arguments in readings.

I think she's actually pretty nice, but it took me a whie to get used to how she explains certain concepts. She uses complicated words to descirbe a lot of the material. It sometimes threw me off from the lecture.

She is very knowledgeable about her subject, but there is soooo much to know. The exams were very long and difficult and studing for them was hard. If you have a hard time memorizing terms, dates, and etc. this is not the class for you!!! overal an enjoyable class.

Dr. Hacker is a genius, though she might speak really fast the information given is relevant. she expects full participation in class as she will not baby you with spelling of temples and sites. what is important on exams she will have them on her study sheet and if not, then it's always a good idea to see her during office hours

This woman is a nightmare. She talks ridiculously fast; I felt like I was taking a foreign language class with a little religion mixed in. She does not put up the spelling for all the different rulers/temples (some aren't on the study sheets!) and it is impossible to tell what she will ask on the exam. She is rude, EXTREMELY unhelpful and unfair. S
