Comment:
ChanThorp is my boy. ECON 125 is by far the most fascinating class I've had. Sure, he has a bit of an ego. But if you can overlook that he gives great insight beyond just the course material.

Dr. Thorp has a bit of an ego and a sci-fi twist that I find quite annoying. He's an OK teacher, but not really a teacher I would recommend if you want to really learn the subject.

The class was pretty good. His lectures were very helpful for tests. The tests were basically math problems and reasonably fair. Note that no partial credit was given. He has a great overall personality.

As long as you attend class and pay attention to the types of problems that he goes over then you will do fine. He will usually throw in one question on the exams that you aren't expecting and just have to guess, plus there is no partial credit.

He is a very good chemistry professor and wants everyone to do well. Attend the lectures and there are no surprises - don't bother with the book, just take notes from his lecture. There are only three tests and they can all be replaced witht the final at the end of the year.

A little confusing in class, but will give help outside of class. Wants everybody to do well, but will not do your work for you. Four test grades determine your grade, but using the practice tests (especially the practice final) will get you ready.

He kept me awake every day, and made me WANT to go to class. He made chemistry entertaining, and used creative assignments to make this not feel like a reprise of high school chem- I was thinking about concepts, not just solving problems. Quite well done!
