EASIEST 400+ level class that I took in UIC. There are no tests, we just had to write a review paper and did 2 presentations. He might appear stoic and intimidating, but he's caring and very considerate. It's about a 2 hour long class every week, but he gives ample breaks in between and free food (most of the time) :D

Dr. BassiriRad's class was one of my favorites at UIC. He covered a broad spectrum of plant ecology topics that were very interesting. He has a lot of experience in this field and is willing to answer any questions you have. If you are interested in our photosynthesizing friends, definitely take this course!

I took this class with Dr. BassiriRad my last semester at UIC. I was so pleased with how helpful he was. He gave great advice on how to find research topics and improve your scientific writing. As someone that is interested in pursuing a graduate degree and plans to work as a plant ecologist, I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

One of the worst professor. He was of no help. I thought I would take this lab because I heard it was an easy A. The TA was unorganized and the grading was ridiculously hard, with no rubric. There is no curve, even when 3/4 the class failed the lab report. The field trips were disorganized because no one had a clue, including the Professor himself.

I had this professor for bios 331 last year and it is a course I would recommend to any bio major. The field trips are really nice and the professor is awesome. Prof Hormoz is understanding and considerate when it comes to grades. He's the most approachable person ever. You have to work for the grade, but he'll help as much as possible to do well.

I took Dr. Hormoz for BIOS 399 Research and he is the most coolest guy you'll ever meet. He's very chill with your schedule and is very considerate. Last semester I was unable to submit my final paper during my finals week because of my final exams, so he gave me 1 whole week to finish the research paper and turn it in. Best professor ever at UIC!

This class is a must for all science majors. The class trips allow for hands on expierence collecting data and using the data to write papers correctly. Plus the work in the greenhouse adds to the practice. This class is well taught and both professor and TA's are always available to help. I highly recomend to all students.

Professor BassiriRad truly cares about his students. Don't be fooled by his easygoing and fun personality - he takes his work seriously and expects the same from his students. That being said, I have yet to find a more helpful professor. He will bend over backwards to ensure that his students truly understand the subject matter. Highly recommended.
