Comment:

There was a steady amount of work throughout the semester, but it shouldn't be unmanageable. His lectures were interesting and fun. He was a fair grader. There are clear expectations for the work he expects. It's a shame he is leaving the university.

Comment:

I wanted to like this class, but no matter what I tell myself I can not justify the workload for the credits given. LOTS of reading/quizzes. However, Prof. Lange did pick out the easiest versions of the texts available & has a nice website for easy access to help/guidelines. Classes are also pretty interesting too. I appreciated his strong effort.

The grading scale is really tough. There is a paper due EVERY week and a reading quiz EVERY week. The content is interesting but it is a ton of work and over the course of the semester your grade will not improve.

Barely learned anything in class. When it comes to writing your paper, he will not allow to you use other sources that would help improve your paper even if that source comes from the same book. He's ridiculous and did not enjoy his class whatsoever.

Worst teacher EVER. He rattles on about the most boring AND useless things. You have to write a paper and take a quiz EVERY week and if you get Brenna Rose as a TA she grades ridiculously hard. You also have to really come up with interesting things to say for full participation points. I did learn a lot about writing and reading comprehension tho

BEST. TEACHER. EVER. Can tell he really, REALLY cares about what he's teaching about, and he's absolutely fascinating--knows tons. Some of the homework might take a while to complete, but it's definitely worth doing. Really, really loved this class; was sorry it had to end. But seriously, BEST TEACHER EVER.

I've never failed a class in my life until this guy. Here's why?I wrote an essay on Genesis, and I used one example from Deuteronomy, and I got a zero on the paper?as if I hadn't done it at all. He's the worst professor I've ever had, but he sure is funny, so if you want to have a funny professor, go for it.

Horst Lange is a hidden gem at UNR. One of the best professors in the Foreign Language department. He is extremely knowledgeable outside of German, which adds to his credentials as a mentor and a teacher. Take him if you can. You will not regret it.

Professor Lange is an amazing teacher! He is very engaging during class and his teaching skills are very impressive. His homework is difficult and takes a very long time to complete, however it is worth the knowledge that is gained. He is very funny and friendly. He is the best teacher I've had at the university!

Herr Lange is one of the greatest professors I've ever had. He doesn't take himself seriously, but he does take his job very seriously. This man will teach you German whether you're into it or not - and by the end of it you will be into it. He's great fun, and a very enjoyable person to be around. He's a credit to the University of Nevada Reno.

Prof. Lange is great at the difficult task of teaching a foreign language. No tests, but quizzes and lots of homework. Assignments can be tedious sometimes but are very helpful for the learning experience. If you do the work, you will get an A. I learned more in a month with him than a semester with past professors.

Comment:

Learning a foreign language is one of the most difficult tasks to accomplish. Herr Lange not only simplifies the process intuitively, he does it in a fun way. The class requires a lot of homework, but there are no tests, just daily quizzes. But, despite the method, you will come out with an extensive knowledge of German. Great professor.

Mr.Lange is my favorite professor so far. He is funny and smart. He is also extremely intelligent and cool. He played a song before every class that was always entertaining. I had him as a discussion leader and he made sure he personally knew everyone. He helped me and really seemed to care. I wish he taught more classes!
