I love history so personally I loved him. By the time the last day to drop his class, only about 30% stayed. Only 3 tests and 4 quizzes give. They are all reading tests and quizzes. 2 different books and each one you take you have to read over 100 pages. Have to read chapters more than once to remember info. Don't like reading, do not take him.

Get ready to take notes! Write down everything said in lecture and make sure you read all chapters of book before test. I took notes from book and went over lecture notes to review for test. This class can be hard if you dont read everything and WRITE DOWN ALL LECTURE NOTES, not just what he puts on board. most fail bc of poor note taking.

He knows his history very well. The reading quizzes are fairly easy if you read them in advance and do not cram. He does not play around on his tests and essays. Take as many notes as possible!

He is a very very hard teacher. Quizes had to do with the reading book (never talked about it in class, it was on you to understand it), and test was over lecture and the text book.The test had nothing to do with anything we learned in class! worst teacher that i have had! DO NOT TAKE HIM!

Gwin's IC class is excellent & not difficult if you attend regularly & know how to take notes. His reading & essay expectations are much easier than those of others, but review sheets & short answer parts of exams are more vague. On exams, write as much & as long as possible. Don't skip much early on. He reserves right to drop after 4th absence.

A great professor who makes class interesting. His reading assignments are easy and enjoyable. Test are not that hard, and he is always willing to help. Plus he looks like Santa!! Overall he is a great teacher.

Dr. Gwin is an outstanding professor!!! The man knows his stuff and is more than willing to help those in need. I'm not going to say he isnt boring, but he is extremely knowledgable. Doesnt use notes or anything, has it all memorized. I would recommend him for Western Civ

Mr Gwin Mr Gwin...never again...he was extremely boring its not like history is already boring he makes it extra boring...because he knows his information very well but its like he's a different world and its very hard to comprehend....alot of reading and writing papers...i hated that class with a passion

Took him for issues/world cultures I, enjoyed the class. Depending on the topic, it can get kind of boring. The secret is reading the book. Look over the notes, read the sections in the book, and your guaranteed an A. I also highly recommend wikipedia for this class

Dr. Gwin is a walking encyclopedia. I have taken all his classes and have been allowed to sit in on some sessions afterward. He never approaches a subject the same way twice but always introduces new material. His classes are only as hard as one makes them. He will help any student who makes an effort but has no patience with slackers.

Took both 1301 and 1302 via Video Course. You MUST read the book, watch the videos and read the study guide and if you work hard enough you may make a B. His tests are extremely hard. He is fair and will work with you if by chance you miss a test. He is easily accessible.

He was generous when I would go visit him but his tests were IMPOSSIBLY HARD. He doesn't like tardiness, but if you are unprepared for a test you have oppurtunities throughout the semester to take them later.
