Worst instructor ever, teaching nothing in lecture and test EVERY single sentence on the slides. Even test with something he never taught. Homeworks are useless for your test. Group project required. Avoid him at all cost.

Easy class with lots of extra credit. Requires you to think pretty hard about the code since COBOL is a limited language. but its well worth it and you come out a much better problem solver! 10/10 would recommend!

No passion about teaching at all. Really hard to learn something important in class because of short lecture (usually class ends within half an hour). And he did not highlight key ideas during the lecture, and most of exam questions are about small texts on the corner of the slides. Not Recommanded

Super boring lecture, his slides is just copying from Wikipedia. As an assistant prof, it seems that he didn't care about his class. He has 2 final sections with different questions). For everyone I have known of, the 2nd section's average is 10 points+ lower than the 1st one, and he didn't even curve it. Not ez and you will learn nothing from him.

Exams questions are extremely specific, study every sentence of the slides even if that content wasnt emphasized in class. Lectures arent useful. Didnt feel like prof cared about the class.

Steve was a great professor. Really cares about his students, and if you put the work in youll get the result you want. Attendance is not mandatory but if you go you learn more and get to know him. Not an easy language, you might hate the material but you will be okay.

In the top 3 best professors I have had. He's just a really good guy who wants you to succeed. He is from the industry and has cut out everything that isn't practical. Lectures are rather boring but I would go because he's generous if you're a regular and appear to work hard. Exams are very hard. Labs are eh. Pretty easy language to pick up.

So class was really tough. But if you are looking for a teacher who will care about you and your success then he is the one for you. Go to his office hours and ask questions.

The class isn't terrible if you put enough work into it. Quizzes and exams are fair, study the slides for quizzes and labs for exams. Work on things well ahead of time. Go to office hours - he wants to see you learn and be successful. There are opportunities for extra credit if you show up to lecture and not many people are there that day.

This class is tough, you need to study hard for the tests, start projects 4-5 days early (Office Hours are mandatory to get good grades on these projects), and keep up with the material. You don't need a textbook and you don't have to attend every class as long as you read the slides and keep up on the material. You can get an A in the class.

He is a very nice guy. A lot of people who drop the class is because they don't like the language not because of Steve. I struggled to get a good grade but learned a lot from this class.

Great Prof. Actually worked in the field doing this stuff. Topic is not easy per se but he is very fair and more than willing to help you outside of class. He answers emails from home and will go over work during office hours. Everything comes from notes. Exams are a bit tougher than quizzes/labs
