Not sure why there are so many bad reviews on here. He is super nice & is always willing to go the extra mile to help you. His class is not too difficult: 5 question reading quizzes a week, a group presententation, and a paper. Would highly recommend!

I honestly don't know why the rating is so low! Dr. Omar is very kind and is always open to talk! There's a writing quiz almost every single day in class which compels you to read the daily readings (readings are short), a take-home midterm, one discussion group, and a final. Just raise your hand and participate when you can. Learned a lot!

Assigned 4 page paper on the first day. Very opinionated and does not agree with anyone else. Quizzes are easy but you have to participate if you want to get a good grade. Monotonous but he does take attendance so show up. Not very understanding of your situation and rarely helpful during office hours. Would not take class again!

Very subjective grading. I'd recommend another 2nd level theology course if you have the chance.

Omar is simply decent. He gives reading 5 question reading quizzes every week that plays into your participation grade (20%). There's a group presentation project (20%) And a final (40%). The final was excessively hard to prepare for. Omar is smart but somewhat of a tough grader and is somewhat unorganized. Nice guy overall but wouldn't take again

Dr. Omar is well spoken and understands that his course will challenge the students more than just work wise but with their intellect. He aspires to learn from each student and wants participation. He does not fire back or make you feel bad for talking. Rather he listens and discusses with you. He knows his stuff too so you will learn a lot.

Dr. Omar is a nice guy. He spent this whole class being an apologetic for Islam. Has 0 tolerance for atheism. Refused to acknowledge that all religion is flawed. Also refused to accept that religions are not JUST how you want them to be, or how they "ought" to be. Took 6-8 weeks to return grades and assignments. Barely learned anything at all.

I loved Omar as a professor! He is so kind and caring about his students. The content is a little boring and you HAVE to do the reading, but overall a really easy grader. He's very passionate about what he does and religion, which is good. I highly recommend.

I took the class with him over the summer. All I can say that he’s a nice guy who genuinely cares about the students. The exams are easy IF you study!! The exams are T/F, MC and fill in the blanks. He’s very strict about attendance so don't miss class! Also, there is a book report and you have to present in groups during class!

Awful lectures because he goes on tangents a lot and it is hard to know what is relevant to the course. Values student participation. He's a very kind and nice man. He is an essential teacher, and he teaches a lot of interesting content, but he isn't a great teacher.

Lectures are a little boring. Content of the class is interesting, however. Readings are shorter and easy to understand. Several assignments, one "big" paper, midterm and final. Nice guy, cares about his students.

Likes participation a lot. Make sure the rough draft you turn in is almost a final draft. It will help with your grade. Not always very clear, but he's very nice.

Comment:
This was one of the worst classes I took at Marquette. The daily short-writes we had to turn in were never returned, so we received little to absolutely no feedback on how we were doing in the class. Besides that, he was very unclear when giving directions, and insisted on odd forms of citation.

Dr. Omar's lectures are not very interesting. He likes to go off on tangents and it's often unclear what's relevant to the course. This makes preparing for tests frustrating. However, he loves student participation, and encourages group discussion of the topic. He's also very open about writing letters of recommendation for people.

Comment:
The most boring professor in the world. He goes off on tangents hardly useful to us. He takes the tiniest details from the books to put on exams. He makes powerpoints, which we told him helps, but then hurries through them saying we should know it all already. Good subject, terrible class.
