I love Dr. Murdock! He is my favorite professor. Take good notes because they are essential for the exams. There is a midterm and final exam which are most of your grade with quizzes weekly. The exams are essay questions you have to answer fully. The midterm is 50 min and the final is 2 hours. I learned so much from this class!

He just lectures the entire class and can get off topic. Quizzes are easy if you read but the test can be difficult and there are only a midterm and a final which is your whole grade

Comment:

His lectures really helped you understand the content in a way that helped you connect it to "the real world" and he is always willing to help out his students. The only thing I could complain about is the tests were hard to understand, I would talk to someone who has taken this class before you start and before the mid term to guarantee success.

Comment:

Dr. Murdoch is the kindest person I have ever met. He takes the time to communicate and help his students. His class is lecture heavy. It is important to take good notes and study them. The exams aren't hard if you listen, study, and take advantage of the help he and his aid offer. He has a very reasonable grading scale.

Comment:

Murdoch has a very old school way of teaching. He lectures twice a week, which sometimes gets boring but make sure you take notes. He quizzes once a week on textbook reading. The quizzes and tests are where all of your grades come from. He definitely knows his stuff, he's pretty funny and you leave class kind of wishing he was your grandfather.

Dr. Murdoch is a super sweet guy and very funny, but this class challenging. There is a lot of reading for the weekly quizzes and the two exams are worth 33% of your grade. His classes are all lectures but it's fine because he is funny and interesting. The quizzes can be tricky, and the exams are graded pretty hard in my opinion. An okay class.

Social movements is nicknamed social movies (at least for the first half of the semester). Attendance is a big part of your grade. You will have three papers which do not have good grading criteria. It's often a boring class, but probably better than most other history electives.

Dr. Murdoch's class was hard for me because the grades are solely based off of quizzes from the reading and blue book essay exams. The exams are all based on lecture notes you take. Make sure you take notes! Dr. Murdoch himself is the nicest, most helpful professor ever. He spent so much extra time with me and I just love him!

Dr. Murdoch was a wonderful prof for my U.S. History class. His lectures, though long, were very interesting. He doesn't use the textbooks when he lectures, but they are used for quizzes. He has a great grading scale that makes it difficult to not pass the class. Overall, his class was a joy to take and he really helped me learn a lot about history

He's a great teacher, but he quizzes are tough. He doesn't make them, they are based off the book and you don't use the book in class so be ready large amounts of reading, but if you study even some you should be fine.

Dr. Murdoch is the sweetest guy ever! He's so nice and knowledgable and totally understanding. He's kind of a legend around Cedarville. The class was super easy. Lecture everyday with no guide (like power point) so take notes if you want to do well on the exams. (Unless you borrow from a friend). The papers were super easy/interesting as well!

Dr. Murdoch is wonderful. He's oldschool, but worth it. Different format that most students are used to--weekly reading quizzes and bluebook exams--but great lecture content. He knows his stuff. Tends to fall back on civil rights issues, but has a clear passion for US history and is extremely smart.

He was the advisor for my senior research and I only got feedback from him twice all semester. When it came time to discuss my rough draft, he sent another professor to talk to me b/c he didn't feel comfortable doing so. By the end of the semester, I was praying for the end of the class.
