if youre interested in world religions and cultures then TAKE THIS CLASS, i cant recommend it enough. his lectures are long but intriguing (i sucked up every minute of it; class went by fast) and you have to be on top of your game notetaking wise, but the quizes and essays are a breeze if you can take good notes/study. DO TAKE!

This class is so painful. He rambles for hours about things that don't seem to connect to each other. Its impossible to under stand what is going on because is lecture or so disorganized. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!

He's, but so unorganized! I can never understand the points of his lectures!!! He jumps around from topic to topic, idea to idea, never actually getting to the main point. As if this wasn't enough, he stutters like you wouldn't believe. He likes to stop mid sentence and starts a completely different idea. I really really dislike this class...

this class really wasn't too bad, there were only 3 "quizzes" that were straight from his lectures and a final paper. The class is pretty interesting because you get to learn a little about serval religions, the only thing that bugged me was that we kinda stuttered and i just wanted him to spit it out!

Good teacher. Papers and quizzes are not too bad. (He has written several books and he knows what he wants) Come to class and take notes like crazy. He repeats a lot of stuff, but it's good for the quizzes he gives. Easy to talk to and he knows what he's talking about... especially languages of the different Religions we discuss. TAKE HIM!

Fredericks enlightened me to so much about different religions and I learned more than I ever expected to. His quizzes reflect his lectures and he is a fair grader on papers. Some people may say he's boring, but I really recommend taking him. He's so passionate and just a really cool prof (a Roman Catholic priest teaching world religions!)

Amazing class. Dr. Fredericks engages his students, and has a true passion for his teaching. Come to the class ready to be engaged. One of the best classes I've taken. Take good notes, study, and know how to write.

Couple of essays that aren't too hard, he gives you the option of three different prompts. He doesn't make a big deal about the quizzes/tests/exams, but they are really important. Questions come from the lectures AND some of the reading.

As a person, Dr. Fredericks is extremely helpful and of great character. Although the material is interesting, he often loses focus so just make sure to take great notes and take advantage of office hours. He's extremely helpful if you ask but somewhat very detailed in anything he discuss so make sure you have some time. lol.

WAY too harsh of a grader. expects you to be an ace at buddhism while in an introductory course. says you need to "blow him away" to get an A. confuses lectures with his homily. blunt, rude, and even though he's staggeringly intelligent, can be a real smart alec that turns you off learning. BOOOOOO.

fun, interesting class. Fr. fredricks is a passionate teacher who knows his stuff. he has a surprisingly open mind considering he is a catholic priest teaching a class on another religion. quizzes are kind of hard, but notimpossible. other grading based on attendance and a few short papers.

This class is interesting, but very hard grader. And counts attendance every class (a little earlier than when class starts) and if you miss it ohh well, and it's a big part of your grade too.
