Comment:

He is a great professor and the tests were relatively easy especially if you payed attention to class and studied the material he gave you. There were no surprises in anything we were tested on. He seemed to be very interested in the material he was teaching.

Comment:

Started out with Rectanus a year ago and thought he was the most boring professor ever. After a while I came to respect him as a person and who he was. He really doesn't act like an 'old person'. He knows how to use technology/modern slang; It really helps you feel comfortable in the class. He is with the times and understands students. Recommended

Comment:

One of the most nauseatingly boring courses I've ever taken at ISU. I never studied for any of the exams or quizzes, and I never scored below a 95%. The only thing that kept me coming to class was the fact that there was a point value associated with attendance.

Very friendly, very intelligent, very helpful when asked and very positive. Treats you like an equal and never talks down to anyone no matter how bad the question.

Comment:

I personally found the class to move insanely slowly and it was difficult to determine what he wants you to say, usually it was something so obvious no one would say it. I usually did everything the day it was due during my lunch break and my worst grade all semester was 48/50 points. Very nice and lenient but I learned absolutely nothing.

I guess he was a good instructor, I just wasn't thrilled with the subject. Essays and such weren't too hard as long as you wrote a lot and explained your point of view. I didn't really get that much out of the class though. He was very accodating for bad circumstances though, sick, out of town, etc.

Take it from a different teacher if you would like to learn something. He makes it very easy, but everything is reused from year to year and out of date. He means well, but doesn't put the work or time in to help you learn any useful information.

Overall a pretty good professor. He's surprisingly succinct and straight forward for teaching a cinematic arts course, and his lectures are usually interesting. Plus, I love his robotic gestures!

I felt like I put a lot of work into this course only to get very, very little out of it. Topics bounced around so much, and there was no help with grammar besides red marks on my papers. Take German from someone else if you want something out of it.

I've had three classes with him and I think he's a great teacher. A little heavy on the workload but nothing I couldn't handle. As long as you pay attention in class, you can do the homework, and if you do the homework, you'll do well on tests and quizzes

Great teacher. Workload was a little heavy, but he was always willing to help however he could, demonstrating that he obviously cares for his students. Maybe not the easiest professor, but definitely a good one.
