great prof! had prizes for class participation. he once sang and played piano for us about studying for exams because there was a piano in the lecture hall. does have a quiet voice. good examples though, he knows what he is talking about. take his classes!

Nice man, but I found myself extremely frustrated for him; he spends too much time telling lame jokes & goofing around, & we wasted at least 15 mins at the start of EVERY class teaching him how to open his pwrpoint notes on the computer - he's totally computer illiterate. I wound up using the text for note clarification and stopped going to class.

Funny prof but goes off on tangents and ends up rushing through the notes. Only reason I'd recommend going to class is for assignment info, guest lectures and to find out what material will be on the exams Notes are a less-detailed version of the textbook however you WILL have to know the details so read the textbook thoroughly! Fair Examinations

He is funny, has simple lecture, and straightforward exams.Read the lecture, because he has a very soft voice, kind of hard to understand sometimes, but if you really pay attention, you're not gonna miss the jokes and the funny comments he has on the lecture.Just read the lecture notes and the book(if you have time) for the exams. overall, great prof!

Dr. Friel is amazing, he is the most interesting prof i have ever had. He is extremely knowledgable about his field, and really brings the course to life with interesting examples. There is a lot of content, but if you keep up with the readings, the exams are really easy. The assignments are also pretty easy. Take it with him if you can!

Nice guy and interesting course; you have something that you can apply to your personal life. However, there is a lot of material and his tests arn't very easy at all. Compared to the other sections, he makes you read the textbook and tests you on 8 chps for the midterm. Take it with him if u want to learn. If you want the A or A+, dont. A is >85%

a very cool guy! Worth taking the course with him, he posts his notes, and has real like examples for a lot of the material. He sometimes brought some of his research to class, great opportunity for people continuing in the nutrition field. A little scattered alot of the time, but a fabulous teacher once you figure his style out.

Dr. Friel was a good prof because he did not just read straight off his notes; he would talk about examples drawn from his experiences and his knowledge which made the class very interesting. His exams were fairly easy and he would do anything he could to help his students do well on them.

He made several mistakes on the midterm (though he did make up for this by giving a couple bonus marks) and it's hard to get a hold of him (he isn't in his office during his office hours). Class is a bit dull too.

Very easy going prof. He shows real concern about his students health and he is very happy to answer any question you may have. Even though the class can be dull at times he is a funny prof. Even if I was not getting a credit for this course I would still take it.
