Any class by professor Martin is worth taking. Really happy with what I learned in this class. If you hope to do well in the course, I'd recommend you do some outside reading. The reading he assigns is fantastic, they are all wonderful reads, but what I enjoyed most was that his course sets you up to research a topic that you're most interested in.

I have taken two level 4000 courses and enjoyed both. While others might think he grades hard if you focus on significance you will do well. He is able to provide insight to the subject and makes learning fun. He encourages interaction with the students and is very respectful of others. I is my favorite history professor to date.

Am Rev.-> Martin's class was thoroughly enjoyable. I thought I knew quite a bit about the Am Rev, I did not - the subtleties and lesser-known facts that I picked up in his class kept me more than interested. Exams were difficult but fairly graded; you can choose your book for the term paper from a long list provided. Definitely recommended.

Dr. Martin is a fantastic professor who is extremely knowledgeable, fun, and very approachable. He keeps class interesting by having discussions a lot and telling jokes about the subject matter. I've taken two courses with him and both had very high textbook usage. Keep up with readings, come to class and participate, and you'll do just fine.

Outstanding professor of history, particularly the Revolutionary War. I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Professor Martin is extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about the Revolution. I always considered myself reasonable knowledgeable on the subject, but this class has tripled that knowledge with greater understanding and insight.
