Professor Luce is the best professor I ever had at my time at UB. She's so inspirational and is always there for her students. You defiantly work for your grade but she's so straight forward about what she expects from you. She wasn't even my advisor but I still went to her for everything and she was willing to help me with anything I needed.

Jan Charles-Luce is a wonderful professor. She is there for her students and is available for office hours. However, this class was difficult (at least for me). There is only a midterm and final, so no other exams (besides quizzes and homeworks). You must keep up with reviewing lectures or you will fall behind! And go to class for extra credit!

Dr. Charles-Luce is an amazing professor, at least in Phonetics (CDS 286) . Her lectures are clear and precise, shes very knowledgeable on subject matter, and she is always happy to answer questions. It's difficult to get an A, but very manageable to get an A- or B+. DON'T buy the book, ONLY buy older editions of the CD's required.

Professor Charles-Luce is a superb teacher! She is very knowledgable and knows what she is talking about. The class is difficult. Attendance is not mandatory but you should go because she assigns quizzes. Tests are difficult, but manageable if you study. Ended up with a B+, one point away from an A-. You need a 96% and above for an A. Crazy!

She is so intelligent but you need to put your all in the class. You can understand all of the material but when you see the test have no clue what the answer is because of the wording/ unfairness of the question. she is a great teacher but you need a 96 to get an A which is crazy. I ended up with an A-.

Dr. Luce is an inspiration. She has a linguistics and psychology background as well as communicative disorders. She is very thorough and is very adamant about students practicing and actively learning material. I highly recommend taking classes with her if you want to learn anything about communicative disorders..

Attendance is not required, but you should not be absent in any of the class, she reserves the right to assign pop quiz without any notice. 50 points out of 350 possible points is given as long as you finish transcription and extra homework. Tests can be somewhat tricky, comprehend the materials instead of memorizing them.

This professer is great. She's an awesome teacher and gives you all the information that you need for tests, however, you do need to study and do the homework for this class. This is what I learned and I only got a C+ in the class. I learned a lot, but I didn't do well on tests because they are NOT easy You definately need to study.

This woman is extremely smart and knows exactly what she is talking about. The class is semi-difficult but so are most CDS classes. No need to buy the book (its optional) and study the notes good, her quz/test questions are tricky!
