Comment:

For pros, Mr. Brown does an excellent job of teaching, making it easy to understand & encourages questions. His answers are usually concise. For cons, he's not prompt with messages, but the greatest flaw is MindTap. It's too finicky and inconsistent to code in, & many of its projects' questions make no sense.

Alot of these comments are likely from people who just gave up... programming is hard and takes effort that many people are not willing to put in. Just took CSI132 this summer and it was ALOT of work, but Mr. Brown is actually very understanding and will give you a good grade if you put in effort, ask questions, and work hard on your final project.

He's one of the worst professors I've ever had the displeasure of being a student of. I have NEVER gotten a response email back from him, he misgraded my midterm and has not corrected it. Mindtap is a terrible program, his grading methods are automatic and bare-bones, and I learned nothing. Don't major in comp sci, he's the ONLY CSI131 teacher.

AWFUL.. avoid if possible. Minimal email correspondence, really doesn't seem to care about students whatsoever. I struggle to understand what 'work' he actually puts into his job here. His lectures are pretty much read right off of slides, and any help I've received from him is mediocre at best.

Easy A but you wont learn anything He takes forever to respond to emails. All of the programming assignments and test answers can be found online. My advice is to teach yourself programming through Youtube or Udemy.

Online class. He sent his day 1 notices and never heard from him again. The syllabus was wrong. The instructions were not clear. Waste of money buying textbooks because we never needed them (eBooks available from the MyITLab he uses). If I actually had to take this class to learn something, I would have been in trouble.

He is terrible. Be prepared to go to two hour monotone PowerPoint lectures.. The PowerPoints are word for word pulled from the textbook. I could've bought myself the book and taught myself all I "learned" from his class! I would not suggest him to anyone! HIS CSI131 CLASS IS NOT FOR INEXPERIENCED PROGRAMMERS!!!

Kind of a "you like him or you don't" kind of professor. He will not hold your hand through everything, however he will answer any and all questions you have in detail. either inside of class or outside. However, he is difficult to reach through email, instead try to talk to him during his office hours at the college or after class.

I like the teacher, if you do everything like he asks , he would help you any time and answer your questions.. but you need to read chapters before the class.. He is very nice teacher and a person.. you just need to study, no one will study for you..

This is a hybrid class, meet once a week and the rest is up to you. Tests and exams are all online and you are expected to read the book to learn. Class time is spend approaching the material you should have read before the class. He will help you when you get stuck and explain how you should should think/approach the problem.
