I thoroughly enjoyed Professor Ciarlone's class. You have to be motivated to learn. She goes though lectures quickly, participation is crucial, and attendance is mandatory. If you do what you should be doing as a student, you'll pass.

Professor Ciarlone came into our class mid semester and she had a hard time adapting to the fact that we didn't learn anything before she got there so she basically took her anger out on us. She is very rude and opinionated, however, if you do the work and study you will be fine. Participation is KEY !!! 30% of your grade !

I got prof ciarlone halfway through the semester when my prof left. She had a lot to catch us up on, but she was very rude about it. Her attitude made the class less enjoyable than i know it could have been. The content we learn is interesting and she provides good lecture notes, but she is not very nice to those who have opposing views of hers.

Participation matters - big time! Lots of reading and the participation lets her know you're working. Very funny, dry humor. Most like, some don't get it. No late work, no substitute work. No extra credit. Just do your job and you'll pass. Very fair! Simple - time to grow up. The syllabus says it all - it's long.

If you're motivated to learn, this is the professor to take. Lectures interesting. She is passionate about her subject and teaching. Her syllabus is crystal clear and she returns papers fast. Interesting, professional, and can be funny. Lazy students won't like her. Helped me a lot this past semester - Thanks Prof C!!

BEST professor I've had, but she is NOT easy! She really pushes you to do your best, and will take points off for the smallest things but its just her high expectations for a 300 level course, she wants you to take responsibility for yourself, and if you do you'll be fine in the long run! Very preparing class, tough teacher but DEFINITELY worth it.

This is an Environmental class so if you like that then take it. You have to pay attention to her lectures, they are very fast and not posted online. She has an old fashion sense of humor, don't take it personally. She is hard on students but it is for your own good. She is caring just very blunt, don't be sensitive, show up, and you'll be fine

Very rude claims to "tell it how it is" but is very inconsiderate of people's feelings. Acts like high school teacher. Yells a lot. Is very mood, does not go by the syllabus. Speeds through her PowerPoints and refuses to post them on blackboard. Does not tell you what grade you have in the class, goes by weird grading system of VG,EX,P,S.

I've never experienced a professor like this before. She rushes through lectures causing bad notes. and she refuses to post her lectures on BB, which would be helpful for tests. Reading the textbook isn't even helpful. She calls out her students and bashes the class more than she actually teaches. I would've enjoyed this class with another prof.

Professor Ciarlone rushes through material during lectures. The only way to learn is through reading the textbook and sometimes that even is not good enough. She is a tough grader and won't accept MLA. She is not helpful at all especially when you are struggling. She fails to answer emails asking for help and if she does, she will just say to read

this professor grades based on what she wants and how she wants it only. turned in an assignment that took me two days to finish and she gave me an "unaccepted" because I used MLA format and included her name and the course section. she tells me the gap between the top of the page and the title is "wasted space." calls me out in class for it.

I am not one to complaine about professors, but professor Ciarlone is extreamly disrespectful and rude. She expects students to respect her but does not respect her students. I have never felt so degraded in my entire life from a professor. She spends more time yelling at her students than actually teaching. Extremely disappointed.

I took environmental sociology with her and it was the worst experience I've ever had in a class. She is rude, hypocritical and arrogant. She treats you like you're in middle school. She has 0 respect for her students. She spent most of the time taking down to her students and taught us nothing related to the subject.

Professor Ciarlone is a nice person, however teaching wise I have learned little to none. She tends to bash her students, even though she claims to be "motivating and observing". She believes she is right and it's her way or no way. I would have enjoyed this class much more had I had a different professor.

Professor Ciarlone is very interesting. She is very disorganized. Could be very rude, but if you are rude to her she is going to be rude back. After 2 absentees she takes off a full letter grade. You walk in late and she will yell at you, but she can walk in 10 minutes late most of the time anyway. Everything is from the book. Try not to take her.

I loved this class and this professor. She went out of her way to help me. She uses the course site so everything you need is there including your grades. You always know where you stand. The info - very interesting! She's not easy, but she makes you want to learn more about this subject. Just follow the syllabus.

Shes challenging, uses book and articles. has speakers come in sometimes. Very interesting because she makes crosswords and jeopardy games. Uses humor to keep your attention. She knows her subject and it shows. Don't try to jerk her around cause she will call you on it.
