HORRIBLE!!! Insane amount of work with a case analysis due every single Sunday, including Easter, that take a good three to four hours. Totally subjective grading with zero explanation and a BOGUS participation requirement where you LOSE points off your grade. Students had to ID errors and make corrections to her own syllabus. Unacceptable.

Do Something Bentley! Gogan needs to "GO"gan. We are all graduate students working full time. Enough! Beware-if your views are not hers, you are DOOMED! Way too much emphasis on class participation and favors student leaving you no chance to get points. She treats you like you are five-year-olds. Worst class in the program.

Worst teacher at Bentley. Doesn't care about her students, and grades in a terrible manner. Talks down to all of the students and believes us all to be children. Avoid at all costs, doesn't scale grades, just isn't a good teacher and needs to go. Good luck!

Prof. Gogan should be a teacher at elementary school. She doesn't understand that we are college students and do not need to be micromanaged and chastised for being 2 minutes late. She is a tough grader and will penalize you for any minor mistake on a test or homework assignment. Have to read text on your own before exams.

Wants student to participate yet you are assigned when to participate (cold calls)-doesn't encourage discussion. Grading is very subjective and it's not clear as to what she is looking for. Tests are case based and answers to them are subjectively graded. Can't really prepare for tests. Don't buy the wsj as bentley offers it through the library.

She's a horrible gb31p prof. She didn't know how to use process model and tried to teach us even when she had no idea what she was doing. She was not very clear about what she wanted us to do and was not very helpful with projects.

Requires attendance (1 miss per semester, with a write up) so if you travel for work, etc this is not for you. No online option. Participation 40% of grade (keeps a checklist of names), which makes class feel elementary (we're adults, we don't need to be told it's mandatory that we raise our hands 2-4x per class). Never lets out early.

Keeps the dialog going well, although the class was burdened with undergrads with no work experience. She's a tough grader. She's not explicit about what she's looking for, and I kind of felt it changed part way through the semester. Claimed to care heavily about class participation, but exams counted way more.

Took this class in the 5 saturday format. It was ALOT of reading and preparation. No textbook just HBS cases. (3-4) per week plus background articles. Class is all discussion based. For the most part she kept the discussion interesting and the 6-8 hrs went by faster than you would think. Graded assignments weren't difficult, tough grader though

Comment:
Subjective grader in a class that is based on class discussion. Does not know how to manage a group of graduate students and does not encourage insightful discussion, allows a few of her favorites talk most of the time while she requires you to engage in discussion at least 4 times each class. Obsessed with her HBS background and is patronizing.

Very nice person, but hard grader and obsessed with participation. Doesn't really seem to know IT too well just knows the cases you study well. No computers in class and long discussions on the same topic make for a long class.

Really disliked this professor. She wants people to participate in class, but then ridicules them when she doesn't agree with their comments. She emphasized note taking and study groups to the point that I felt like I was in high school, not a graduate class. Only upside is that the class material wasn't too difficult.

The best professor I had so far in my MBA program. Classes are very informative. Prof. Gogan has a great teaching style, she grabs your full attention and knows how to keep discussion interesting. There is a lot of reading assigned for each class and you have to be ready to discuss it on a meaningful level to earn a good grade.

Determines grades based on class participation. If you have not talked atleast 3-4 times per class you are in trouble and will affect your grades. Course a big bore. Material very easy only case studies. Assignments very easy. Read her PPts and you will have the answers. Very easy class butlooks hard cos of unfair grading. Will not recommend.

Good professor overall. Like all classes that are weighted heavily on class participation, there is subjectivity and bias when determining grades. Lecture was a little dry and was boring - I thank the ppl who made funny/interesting comments in class. Try to make a comment every 15 minutes, or else she won't notice you.

She is possibly one of the worst professors I have ever had! Very unfair in determining grades based on complete subjectivity, did not like me for some reason. She should probably not ever teach again. Do not ever take her! Bentley University should be disgraced for having someone like her teach there graduates.

Janice Gogan is awful. Stay away from her if at all possible. She's a bad teacher and doesn't seem to know it. Nice enough person, but is that relevant?
