Comment:

Worst thing I can say about him is that he's a pretty tough grader. Other than that I really enjoy having him as a professor. He's a funny guy, he's usually pretty good at explaining things and his homework is easily manageable. If you're keeping up and paying attention, you should have no problems with him.

Comment:

Yellen was my advisor until I switched to an econ advisor. I took two classes with him, did poorly in the first and did ok in the second. He is very fair and will tell you over and over "you need to do the work." If you don't, you will not succeed in his class. It's really simple. I don't recommend skipping because he gives plenty of quizzes.

I have mixed feelings about him. He makes the learning environment really comfortable so I don't feel awkward raising my hand and answering his questions and he likes to crack jokes--he's a cute old man. He can be pretty confusing in explaining things sometimes, though. Just ask him about it after class, he's always available, you'll get it.

The 4th class in a row ive taken with this professor. all quizzes and tests are either hit or miss, is completely merciless when it comes to grading. Forces you to go in for help but then makes little to no sense in explaining material. The only reason I dont have a GPA thats .5 higher than it is

So hard to understand. He goes off on confusing tangents and it's hard to keep up. A lot of the information he tests you on is not taught in class, and a lot of the stuff taught in class is not on the test. He's a nice guy though and will help you if you ask, but be prepared to spend TONS of time learning the material on your own
