In my opinion Jean lacks professionalism. While applying for an internship I said I aspire to get a specialty after dental school; she told me "there's no guarantee that you're ever going to make it to professional school..." But I ended up getting my BA from Berkeley & I'm getting my Grad degree from Columbia, somewhere she couldn't make it to.

Comment:

I had Dr. Shankweiler for 1B, 7A and 7B. She is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She is organized and always willing to help. No one said inorganic/organic chem was easy. Learn to stay on top of lectures and honestly put effort in the homework she assigns you and you'll do well in her classes. I can't imagine taking chem with anyone else!

Her lecture notes are kinda sloppy. Her Tests and quizzes were hard. I studied at least 4 hours everyday for this class. You will have to study REAL HARD. I got a B. But I don't blame myself cause I studied real hard and I did my best ever. Be prepare she's not easy.

She is one of the best teachers i have ever had. She is a nice lady and wants you to learn the materials. Her tests are kind of hard, but if you do the homework problems she assigns = easy. For lab write ups work in a group and spend alot of time on them, because she grades them Kind of hard. However she grades exams and quizes fairely.

Definitely buy the solution manual if chem is not your strong subject! It's about $60 but it's worth it! She doesnt grade the labs easy. Don't just "do it" and expect a perfect score. Her lectures were clear but sometimes explained too many things that didn't even appear on the test. But overall, she's GREAT!

She is a really nice and fun teacher to have. She is still hard and tough on the subject so be careful. She doesn't give free points or extra credit so you have to earn them!. All in all it is good to take her because she goes deep into the subject. ( like university level).

Shes an alright teacher. I took her for chem 1a. She can over complicate somethings sometimes but the thermochem test is wat screwed everyone over. STUDY UR A$$ OFF FOR CHAPTER 7 TEST!!!!!! And she writes FAST AS HELLLLLL!!!! At times i can bearly keep up most of my friends agree too so its not just me. She is better than most teachers though

(chem 1B class) WOW!!! where can i start? by far the BEST CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR AT EL CAMINO!!! she made me love chemistry. it's because of her i'm still going. her lectures are clear as crystal. labs are awesome with her. her tests are kind of hard, but doing the homework will help for sure. i highly recommend her class!! she'll make sure u have fun

The best chem teacher by far! She is so clear and organized with lecture. Lecture notes are like gold. She is such a good teacher. She isn't easy or hard, she is completely fair and straight forward. The exams are exactly what she teaches, no major suprises. If you are going to take chemistry, you have to take her, by far the best on ECC cam

Very good chem teacher, clear and explains really good, just write down all her notes and listen during lab and lecture and youll be fine, take advantage of the first 4 weeks of school cause after that it gets way harder but still easy with proper notes and studying.

Hey, it's chemistry, so it's not going to be easy. For me, the quizes are really tough. All in all, she knows her stuff and is a very good teacher. She tells you exactly what is expected, too. If you study real hard, you will do well. Attending MESA is highly recommended!

She is the best chem teacher on campus! She is very clear, very fair, and a very good teacher. Her test are not hard, but if you don't study and know the material...then it's hard, DA! She does write fast, but it's not hard to get used to it. Overall, a great professor and highly recommended.

We are all in agreement that she is good teacher but there are a few things left out. One, being her sloppy notes on the board. Two, her fast pace lecturing that pretty much has you copying the board all 55 min of class. Three, her tests are hard as expected so don't just study the notes. Lastly, she is definetely an intimidating gall, so be brave!

The best chem teacher ive ever had. Considered changing my major to chemistry bc i enjoyed her class so much. She is very clear and thorough, but she is a tough grader. Study her lecture notes completely, and you'll never have to read the txtbk--unless you dont understand her lecture, then youd better read the txt. Cuz chem is not any easy subject.

She is a good teacher and makes things clear for you. Very willing to answer questions and help you when you are stuck. One thing I was disappointed in was I missed a B by one point and she would not give it to me.
