I am not a big fan of American Literature but Dr Richards mad it interesting. Most of the time he didn't even use notes, that is how much he knows about the stuff. He made a very boring subject (for me) fun and entertaining.

16 weeks condensed into 6 weeks is rough! Dr. Richards/ Walt Whitman made it very fun! His humor really made a class I had little desire in, much better! Definitely take him this teacher cause he will make you think, in a good way.

Ok covering 400 yrs of Amer.lit in 6 weeks is NO joke, but Richards made it as less painful as possible. Quizzes were a bit of a pain, but only worth 10% of the grade. Exams were essay only so if ur a good writer, u have a chance to SHINE! His interpretations were awesome. Even w/ a few comma splices i got an A- on a paper go 2 his office if u need

Dr. Richards is an amazing teacher. He's very into putting lit. into historical perspective, which makes hell fire & brimstone a little more fun. Take good notes & for the quizzes always have a few examples that weren't discussed in class. He gives a heavy reading load, but his interpretations are very insightful and often funny. Participate!

Dr. richards was great! I learned a lot in his class! I can't lie ...Quizzes are a B-----! Tests are kinda hard but at least you can explain yourself. He's very helpful, openminded and just a wonderful teacher! he's pretty hot for an old dude!

Some days this class is rather boring and some days its ok, but Dr. Richards is always excited. Lectures mostly the whole time, take good notes. Assigns long reading, but i never read, but just off the notes I may make an A- or a B+. Tells jokes under his breath. He starts class 5 mins. early.

I love Dr. Richards! He is the epitome of a college professor. His class is an intelligent group discussion with some humor thrown in. If you listen to him carefully, you can pick up on the subtle humor. He tells most of his jokes under his breath because they tend to be on the radical side.

The key to this class is to memorize the the names of the playwrights and the characters in the plays. The papers and tests weren't so bad but make sure that you do well on your quizes and you'll be fine.
