In all my years of college, Jelle Roos, is one of the most memorable professors I've ever had the pleasure of being instructed by. He really knows and cares about what he's teaching. He is great at what he does.

I would recommend this class and professor to everyone, yes he can be hard but if you are serious about learning something in life then he is the man to take, you can learn a lot from him. If you do your work and not try to hand him crap then you will come out pretty fair. Overall great smart man and you can learn a lot from him.

I can't stand him. He marks off for every single grammatical error and he wants you to write like you're writing a textbook. He likes to tell you your topics are stupid. It's like he wants to make you feel bad about your topic. Do not take him.

Although there are some negative reviews of this instructor, I took home a lot from this class. I have learned more about writing and sentence structure in this one semester than I ever did in my four years of high school. He's a great guy. Very to-the-point and helps you with your papers if you have questions. Mildly comedic as well.

Fair Teacher. I believe he has his own opinions but never forces them on others and is not judgmental. If you ask for help you will get it. He is direct about what he wants and if you give it to him on paper you will get an A!

Do not take this class with Mr. Roos! He is always 10-20 minutes late to class every day. He is rude and sarcastic and unclear of his expectations. Some people like his dry sense of humor but I couldn't stand it! If you want a teacher who is helpful, fair, and smart, do NOT take Mr. Roos. On the other hand his class isn't difficult, just being in his presence is annoying.

omg professor roos is a horrible teacher he is very confusing when he assigns papers then he turns around and grades like a nazi. i didnt learn anything and he needs to help the students that ask for it. i would never suggest taking him unless u love to write and can write super well right off the bat because otherwise u will b in the hole:(

Class was ok teacher was always late, but his test were fairly easy. He's very boring if i must say, grades fair and if you did bad on a paper he gives you another shot at it. Overall i wouldn't take him again just because his teaching style isn't interesting(puts you to sleep)

I agree with what another student said, "Proffessor Roos is actually a great teacher. He is a bit strict & confusing with his grade scale but, I noticed a huge improvement on my papers as the semester went on. Has a very dry humor about him but nothing like Ben Stein. Awesome Teacher!"

Although interesting subject matter teaches with too much of his personal beliefs which are mostly negative comments towards Christians (especially conservative christians) Highly insulting. Has no respect for others beliefs. Hate that he's indoctrinating some of young minds. To make an A you have to give him what he wants. Your opinion won't matte

This is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. I had to withdraw because he was completely useless. He was ALWAYS at LEAST 10 mins late, and always ended class early. (not what i was paying for) if i could compare him to anyone, it's be Ben Stein from those eyedrops commercials. BLAND.

roos has never been on time to class, he has a good sense of humor. he's willing to help after class, i almost always asked him for feedback on my papers. he isn't scared of hurting your feelings and he tells it like it is when it comes to composition. i don't really like how picky of a grader he is though. his voice is cool to listen to :P

Roos is actually a great guy. He just expects you to want to learn and do well. If you cant write a paper, why should you pass his class? seriously. there are way too many slackers @ PJC... and I personally appreciate him being hard on people who dont want to learn. You make the hard working students look bad. Go Roos! keep em' in check!

I really enjoyed his class! He explains ideas clearly and grades fairly. He is a little strange sometimes, and you have to get past his apparent dislike of faith, but he does his job well. He definitely ventures into more philosophical sides of pieces but I personally like that. A good teacher to consider!
