Worst professor at UH. Very hard to understand what he is saying in class. If you are taking STAT 3331 take it in the summer time with another professor. Avoid this professor at ALL costs. You will have a very hard time passing this class.

He was funny and an intelligent man. He was nice but his class wasn't easy but whatever assignment he gives us helped me for the exam.

Statistics is not an easy class to begin with but I don't think all bad grades are because of the professor. I am responsible for the kind of grade I wanted. Hard work is needed. Not impossible to get an A at all. attend class, read the book and do the problems on the book! He teaches well and helps you when you need it.

Horrible professo. A professor like this makes you hate the concept of tenured professor. If he had been working in an industry and this ineffective,he would have been out of a job in 2 days.I have an A in all subjects till now. Here it may be a D.He is confusing, does not follow book, cannot explain, his reviews are pointless, all in all really bad.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF POSSIBLE. Very hard to understand in class if you are not sitting in the first few rows. Best to study the reviews to do well on exams. 3 tests + 1 final. Will take best 3 scores to average your grade.

SO BORING. I quit going to class after the second week. Literally, worst lecture I've ever sat through. Can't understand him. Has 3 exams, which are the only grades. All I did was print his notes, read the chapters that would be on test, & taught myself from the book. I did better than my friend who went to class. I DO NOT recommend taking him.

This professor cannot teach the course. He simply rambles about things in a lecture hall. The number of students attending class drops off quickly from the first day of class, as he doesn't teach anything useful and his lectures are worthless when it comes down to the tests. You have to know what your doing prior this class. He needs to retire.

I passed with a low grade thanks to the final actually being similar to the review. I'm not bad with math, and the math required for stats isn't rocket science. This professor happens to lecture on things that most likely won't be on exams. Pay close attention to the "exhibits" (typially in spreadsheet format) as they are a major part of exams

20 question tests, with trick questions on the test. zero other grades for a buffer. He has a thick accent, rambles on about random stories, and isn't good at explaining to begin with. I got an A-, but I had already done stats in high school. Transfer this credit if possible, as Smith is no better, A/B students were struggling to get a D at the end

All the Stats teachers at UH suck. Your options are Staci Smith who you can understand, but her tests and homework are ridiculously hard. Or you have Diaz, who is hard to understand, assigns no homework, has a pretty basic test of 20 questions. You have to study on your own and teach yourself. He replaces lowest test grade with final

Lectures are useless. If you can make a friend who attends, it will be useful to know as sometimes he will skip sections or even whole chapters from the syllabus. Diaz's tests are by far easier than Smith's if you can learn on your own. My best recommendation is to take Diaz, attend Smith's class (if you can get away with it).

Student who did well and poorly agree that Dr. Diaz is the worst professor they have taken. Anyone who did well in this class read the book and learned on there own and also had a very strong mathematics background. No homework or in class assignments are offered to provide a chance to recover from the extremely difficult tests. GPA will be damaged

Worst professor of all time. I am usually decent in math and he made me a complete failure. No HW is given and what he teaches in class is nothing like the exams. It's not even worth going to class. There are no curves on the test and he tells you from the get go you will fail. So not worth the time or money or the agony.

This is the worst professor at the University of Houston. I have made and A in every college math course that I have taken. Because of him, my GPA will significantly drop and I may not even pass the course. No HW is given and what he teaches in class is nothing like the exams. No curve on any test. Avoid this professor at all costs!

He is by far the worst professor I have ever taken. He intentionally tries to ruin students GPA's by making a 90 a B+ and an 80 a C+. I studied really hard in this class and I'm going to end up with an 80 which is a C+

He is the worst professor in my 4 years of UH his test are not what he gives reviews on and he isn't willing to help. AVOID AT ALL COST. I'm having to come back to retake stats because of him. I never write reviews I just feel it's very important to warn others he's old and set in his ways.

Bite the bullet and take Stacy Smith. Unless you have a background in stats, you will learn nothing from Diaz. He can't teach and the material given is very hard to equate to the tests.
