Comment:

This man taught me my freshmen year, and taught my dad in the 80s. Lectures can get confusing, hes very well versed in the material but struggles to break it down on an introductory level. I went to his pre-exam review sessions and was still pretty lost on 3/4 exams without missing class.

Comment:

He is a tough professor and sometimes hard to understand, but he knows what he is talking about and if you really focus on paying attention to what he is saying, you will learn a lot. The tests are hard, but he curves the class and gives plenty of opportunities to make up for points.

I had 2 tutors, went to class, studied for tests for hours, and barely passed. Nothing this professor says ever makes sense and he takes pride in having hard tests/assignments. He laughs at students' questions and is not helpful. If you are not an AGEC major, find a different professor. His class is not worth the stress/time.

He may be a nice professor but not a good professor. Class is challenging mostly due to disruptive jokes and chit chat. U gotta put double effort on understanding content as well as his silly languages. He does move grading limit around if the whole class race to the bottom it's hard to fail in his class but at the same hard to be fond of.

He really cares for and try to help the students in anyway he can. He doesn't explain things the best and the test were hard. I think class average was like a 57 for the test. But he grades on a curve. i didn't get a "passing" grade in a single test but walked out with an A. Also he's kinda funny but it is an unique sense of humor.

Things were graded extremely difficult, provided previous exams to study with but did not provide a key or give it to the TA to check, changed the syllabus to a completely different syllabus after the first week... I think he genuinely cares, but he is very challenging. If you have Schatzer, prepare for a long, hard semester.

Senile geezer needs to retire. Didn't even bring his own syllabus to class the first day, wasted 12 hours of lecture time, doesn't bother to explain how he wants the homework done, repeats questions in a LOUD, mocking tone and doesn't actually answer anything, and all around is a terrible choice for any student to "learn" from. CHOOSE ANYONE ELSE!

I actually dropped this class after two weeks. I knew a few people that stayed and they said it just got worse. He takes pride in making students fail the exams. I took one exam in this class, and one question about beef had watermelons in all of the answer choices. Hes old and senile. Please take Rodney jones or devuyst.

Not clear at all concepts are hard to understand in class, lecture is completely different from the textbook I would not take him nor recommend him!

Hard to understand concepts sometimes, but he gives tons of help with quizzes and as long as you go to class he curves grades and helps the students out. This class was hard to understand but went to class and did the homework and got clicker points for being in class and walked out with a B. Would definetly take Dr. Schatzer again.

The lectures are intolerable. The tests are awful. If you have to be gone he will not work with you. For one test our class average was a 45% and he said that was better than usual. If there is a way to avoid taking his classes then I would go with any other option. Also, he makes inappropriate jokes and laughs at them all class. Learned nothing.

Dr. Schatzer is a character; he makes unusual comments and will go off on random tangents. That being said, he is very intelligent and knows the material well. Lecture is pointless, but the labs are crucial. He usually curves the class, but don't bank on it. Take advantage of his help in the labs!

Schatzer loves to ramble on the most random things in class, and with a lecture already over an hour long, it's even more boring. Weekly quizzes with lowest three dropped. Posts old tests for review. Decided to change the final the DAY of the final, making the review completely useless. Had more trouble in this class than in biology.

Lecture and lab based. There's homework in both, mostly excel based. There's lecture tests on the theory from lectures and lab tests based off concepts from the labs. Lab tests are more challenging than lectures tests. He says he will curve the class, but this isn't always true so don't rely on the curve.

Comment:

Schatzer is the type of professor you want to make sure you do not ever have. He rambles during the class lectures &you learn nothing the whole time you are there, which makes the lectures seem extra long. If you try to talk to him out side of class he will look down upon you & takes nothing serious, I've never been so disrespected by a professor
