he is kind . it does seem he prefers the female students. tests are almost impossible to pass. you have to read every detail and memorize it or else you will not pass. grading is so harsh on essays that you will question yourself and abilities. if you ask for help though, he will help. took eng 101 before and got a 95%, took his class got a c

The most forgetful, unorganized professor. He also likes to drag politics into things which makes the class pretty uncomfortable. The grading scale is also outrageous for his literature class. Homework counts as 5% and exams are 95%. Steer away from him!

Great Professor!! He will help you with whatever you don't understand as long as you ask him. I can see how he genuinely cares about his students. He can be a tough grader but how can you learn if he's not. I like how he treats his students like adults, not like other teachers! I will definitely take a class with him again!!

This class is only discussion. You read the material for homework but that is it. There are barely any homework. Your only grades are test grades. If you do not test well do not take this class. His test reviews do not help you and you will not pass if you do not test well. He took away extra credit so you have no way to bring your grade up.

I took his Intro to Literature class (ENH 110) and it was very interesting. Basically just read lots of stories from the textbook and discussed them in class. Barely any homework and lots of extra credit opportunities. Maybe had to write 2 essays and they were easy and short. Tests were a bit tough and had essay questions but they weren't too bad.

I took Prof. Mugford for ENG101 and I plan to take 102 with him, as well as his lit course. He doesn't assign a lot of homework, and his papers aren't excessively long, and most of class time is taken up by him talking, not lecturing. He's really passionate about English, so he isn't lenient on grammatical errors. I strongly recommend him!

Terrible professor! I can't believe I went out of my way to take his class. Essays are tough... Not tough to write but tough to score well on with his insane grading criteria. A-worthy papers are consistently given Bs and Cs. The final review was a joke. He grossly underprepared the students in my class. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

He really wasn't that good of a teacher. He assumed that everyone knew certain things from high school, and I knew nothing about the topics and he didn't help at all. Tough grader on essays. You really have to try hard and attendance is kind of necessary but not really mandatory. Would not take again. Everyone seems to love him to death. I do not.

If Mugford doesn't like the outline to your essay, he docks you 1 letter grade. His final is based on assigned readings throughout the semester, but in the review he GREATLY under prepares you by failing to inform you about where he gets much of the information. Final is curved and he will make you a deal to help boost your grade if you ask.

I had Mugford for English 101. He seemed to prefer the girls. He was very specific with what he wanted on his papers. The last paper was terrible and long. Be prepared to spend a lot of time writing for homework.

I thought this class was super easy and actually quite enjoyable. Mugford is really laid back and jokes around with the class. His essays have very simple guidelines to follow and as long as you follow them, his class is a breeze.

SUPER HARD! Has you do 4 essays and 2 finals. Got all D's on the essays. His grading is so hard! He grades literally EVERY DETAIL. His class is so hard. It's the end of the semester and I failed his class. Retaking it with another professor because his class was too hard. If you have struggles writing this class/teacher isn't for you.

I'm a good student, and writer, and I try hard. I basically got a B on onw of my last papers, and I went and talked to him about it in his office, and just for doing that, he let me rewrite the things I got marked off on, and I got an A on the paper, and class. He's also funny!

Comment:

He's definitely an interesting guy and makes you laugh. It's not easy but I didn't put in a whole lot of effort and got a B in 101 and a C in 102 as a high school student. I couldn't write a paper to save my life prior to this class and now friends ask me for writing advice. You will learn how to write an exceptional paper.
