Professor Hansen will make you work for an A just as any professor should. Don't be intimidated by him. Ask him questions. If you offend easily do not take his class. Quite often he goes off-topic. I took him when the 2016 election was underway and he frequently went on tangents about that. You WILL NOT PASS the class if you do not do the HW.

Dropped his class the first chance I got. First day of class he talked down on Indian and Black people. Says he wishes he could "bulldoze them all" because "they're all on welfare, using his tax dollars, and are illiterate". He is DISGUSTING. The entire class was shocked. Extremely unprofessional, and has no regard for the safety of his students.

If you get offended easily and constantly feel the need to tell your side of the story, this class is not for you. He's told students to "leave the class" for getting a certain problem wrong. Don't take anything he says to heart. He's there to teach not make you feel better.

Lost 1/2 the class 1/2 way through the quarter. He expects you to know everything leading up to his class, and if you ask to explain something from a previous class, he will tell you that you don't belong in this class if you don't already know it. Only thing that saved me was i was able to take it for Pass / No Pass.. I Passed, barely.

Worst teacher I have ever had by far. Ignorant, rude, and unclear. Will laugh/yell at you for asking questions. Constantly solves problem incorrectly and is uninterested in fixing his mistakes, but will expect you to know how to finish the problem anyway. NO respect for students. Thinks he is above you. Best to avoid.

He was an ok instructor but he was a total smart mouth when it comes to pointing things out. Some of his sarcasm was funny but then he intends to get mixed up with Math and politics involved. His patience is very limited so you have to minimize the questions you ask him not to mention he speeds up the work fast.

He doesn't like students asking him questions, he was late a couple of time, his teaching is really unclear, showed us how to work a couple of problems and told us to go home and read the textbook and do the hw, he is rude and constantly saying things to make everyone feel stupid!!

He is one of the worst Math teachers I've ever had. Missed his class at least 3-4 times, had another professor to sub for him and it was a mess, showed up late a couple of time, didn't like his students asking questions, his lectures are unclear, don't take his class if you want to learn!

If you are really sensitive, need a shoulder to cry, on or your hand held during the quarter, then this is NOT the professor for you. Hansen is not your mother. He is straight forward and tells you like it is. His pedagogy is efficient and extremely fair. Don't miss a class and expect to catch up easily. Do all the homework and DON'T GET BEHIND.

He tends to have some sense of humor, often during lectures and reviews. However, he tends to give quizzes every class just for the sake of concentration, hoping to keep us away from some "disco tech" or something like that.

He takes off points for the most inane formatting issues. He spends a good chunk of lecture going on unrelated political rants, when hes not reading the book at you verbatim. He often uses the phrase "they don't pay me enough" as an excuse for not grading homework and other slack behavior, also he gets off on humiliating and judging students. AVOID

Be prepared to be made fun of. You have to wait till break to use the bathroom or he gets angry. don't ask too many question

He assigns tons of work but the purpose behind it is that you learn the concepts. He also has very clear lectures and makes math much easier to understand. However attendance in mandatory because he gives you a quiz every day. Gives extra credit for perfect attendance.

Most of his notes consist of solving problems but what else would you expect from a math class. If you're willing to try, he's willing to help you. Honestly, he is a great professor. Sometimes his lectures and notes are unclear but a little reading in the textbook will sort everything out. He is a wonderful person!

Comment:

Took this class last Summer 2014! It was really hard so you have to work hard to get a better grade. There is a quiz and homework everyday to help you improve your skils. Professor Hansen was really helpful and knows what he's really teaching. He's kinda rude but in a funny way haha Great professor! I enjoyed his class and got an A plus!

Took his class during the summer. I admit, he is not an easy teacher but you will learn a lot from him. He assigns lots of homework compared to other teachers and goes any question the next day. Quizzes were everyday and his tests are a bit hard but manageable. Lots of extra credit opportunity and really cares that you succeed
