Comment:

Great professor,very helpful,he shows videos and slides during lectures. He does do open book tests, take notes,read & study for them. No complaints (except for the STUDENTS who run their mouths and snore during lectures) If I had to, I would take him again.

Comment:

Really nice Professor, and makes the content very interesting using videos and current examples in the news. I would recommend studying though, as yes Professor Allensworth does give open book and note exams, but have to know where to look!

John Allensworth is a great teacher. He is devoted to his subject matter and that comes through in his lectures. He is willing to give extra help, and his open book tests are not hard if you put in an extra bit of studying.

Dr. Allensworth is a great professor and this is a very easy class. The tests are open note/book, so they are not hard. I had a terrible lab instructor who could barely speak English and he acted like he could care less. I highly recommend taking any classes with Dr. Allensworth.

Dr. Allensworth's class wasn't that hard. The open book tests you must study for. Attend class because he talks about things that will be on the test that aren't on the study guides. The study guides don't really help for the tests. You have to read the pgs he tells you to pass the tests. Not as hard as ppl make this class seem. Gave extra credit!!

Dr. Allensworth is a really good guy but he is very passionate about geography - he's been doing it forever. As long as you have an interest in the material and do the readings so you know what you're talking about, you'll be fine. He's very knowledgeable and very helpful!

So, it is impossible to not fall asleep!! I wouldn't even be sleepy and fall asleep because it is soooo boring. Lectures are pointless and he gets off track a lot. YOU MUST READ THE BOOK to do well. His tests are open note and open book but are etremely hard. Nice guy, but if you're looking for a easy "A" do not take this class.

SOOO boring. Rarely takes attendance but it is 15% of your grade. Tests are open book and open note. He uses a lot of questions from captions and pictures within the text. Lectures everyday, gives no notes, but lectures are pointless. Just read and so by the study guides.

Amazing Professor. Although I do not fare so well in science, Dr. Allensworth really takes a passion in what he does and he is incredibly intelligent about his subject. Study for the tests and come to class and take notes and you will be fine!

i really liked dr. allensworth. he takes attendance randomly, but he was very understanding when i missed a week of class; all i did was email him, explain the situation and he didnt mark me off. there are 3 exams, open book open note, but if you dont study or read you will fail. speaks softly, sit near the front!

Never seen a teacher so knowledgeable about his material. Even though class is not mandatory (and it was an early one), I tried to make it everytime because I found it so interesting. Easy open tests, just make sure you are prepared. On every note I took, I put the page number and I still took the whole time. Great professor though.

Lectures are generally dry and I found myself struggling to go to class. Three tests that are open book/note but also many questions on movies shown in class. Reading before the test is vital.

Really intelligent guy. i thought the class was very interesting. Test are open notes and open book, but you should put some study time so you can navigate through the book easily. Come to class because he asks some question that are part of his lecture. Also come to class b/c he does occasionally take attendance and class activities for a grade.

open book open note tests...nuff said. but hes super boring and takes attendance for a grade. but if ur good at geog and/or read the book its a joke. i skimmed the book and gotta 96 and 95 on the 1st 2 tests. the final isnt cumulative either only 3 tests and attendace points, highly highly recommend. put he does show pointless videos in class.

Open book tests are not easy, I repeat not easy. You must look through the chapters and make post it notes. His outlines are sort of useful but no really. Keep notes from the lab...they will help the most. Overall he is a very nice guy, but you will need to put in some effort.
