Comment:
The class was hard so not the prof's fault. Participation based discussions during lectures. we had a choice of 1 big essay or 2 smaller essays and topics were interesting but was a hard marker. Exams were fair and he prepared you for the exam questions completely during lectures. So ATTEND CLASS if you want to pass. Has an accent.

I do think that he genuinely cares about his students and wants them to get the most out of his class. However, he is a very tough grader and does not give very helpful feedback as to how to do better on the next assignment. Also the toll this class took on my mental health and stability... not worth it.

I love this man. John is honestly the highlight of my first term in uni - his lectures are very interesting, he is witty, organized, and very caring. His class made me love language and the process of research. Go to his office hours; his feedback will definitely help on papers. Also, he has a very charming British accent.

John is a fantastic professor. His lectures are clear and he is very enthusiastic and considerate of student contribution. He presented the course material very well, and was very knowledgeable, but sometimes I personally found the content to be boring. If you're interested in medieval literature, this is a fantastic professor and course for you.

John is an awesome teacher. He provides a very comfortable environment for everyone in the class to participate in the discussions. Going to class is a must, as most of the classes were spent discussing the text/readings as a class and bouncing off one another. I really enjoyed this class and would take it again if I could!

I did not like this professor one bit. He was rude, inconsiderate and just full of himself. His lectures were also boring. There are way better professors you could find in other English courses... don't even bother.

Class was pretty easy to bs but absolutely hated having him as a professor. He has some kind of weird hatred against students who major in sciences. You can be creative enough to write a good paper but if you're in the sciences, don't bother taking this guy.

Awesome, charming professor. Very intelligent and gives good feedback which can seem intimidating but he does really care about students' success. A real shame that his rating is lower because of a few students who likely expected an easy A.

He is a good prof, but is a fairly tough grader. He expects more from first year English students and consequently affects your grade. He is always willing to help and encourages you to ask any and all questions. He is very understanding when real life gets in the way and is overall a very nice man.

Considine is a great prof. Gives great feedback, genuinely wants you to succeed and overall makes his class interesting, straight forward and gives you plenty of opportunity to give feedback on how you feel about him/the class in general. Super approachable and really knows what he's doing, definitely would recommend.

This guy totally ruined my first impression of university english professors. Wrote condescending and unnecessary comments on essays, course content was well above what should be expected of a first year class (studying William Blake). Failed to answer any emails I sent him and talks very quietly. Would not recommend.

John is so incredibly passionate about english that you can't help but want to do well if only so that you don't feel like you are a disappointment to him. Very honest about the level of success he expects. A lot of class discussions which you are required to participate in and you are graded for attendance.

Absolutely incredible professor who has provided me with invaluable feedback that has honed my skills as a writer and researcher. His lectures are engaging and interesting and encourage in-class participation; it's always a discussion that leads to new discoveries beyond the surfaces of the texts we read.
