I would not recommend his class. It was by far one of the hardest and time consuming classes I ever took in college. He practically failed me at the end of the semester all because I bombed the music jury. Fortunately, my grade was changed to a B-! Dont take his class.

He's obsessed with music (and Jazz) which is definitely what you want in a music professor. He'll be more harsh than the other music professors which can sometimes be needed. He talks about himself too much; it can get kinda annoying, like we get it, you're good at what you do. Overall a solid guy though. Try to get on his good side.

Extremely talented man. His passion is inspiring and encouraging students, and it shows in his words and actions. Even though he is a professional, he motivates you and gives you the right compliments and advice on what to improve on. Can babble a bit too much in class though, but that's worth it, in learning from such a knowledgeable person.

John is an excellent professor, and you can tell that this guy has been around quite a lot. He is very honest, but is never negative, always offering suggestions for improvement with any negative critique. He's EXTREMELY laid back and is lax about attendance and really doesn't have any exams. However, all of his classes are interesting.

He chooses boring music to play that I played in middle school, talked about himself and his career for up to 30 minutes of a 50 minute class. Can't read music very well and has the band play the same lines over and over because he thinks he "hears" something wrong. I did not take anything from his class. I don't know how he is a teacher.

I've had a lot of music teachers over the years and he is definitely at the top of the list! Knows what he's doing and teaches from his own years of experience. The only gripe I have is that he's not all to forceful with a rowdy class. Keep them in line, John!
