I took this class for Chicano Studies 101 and honestly I couldn't understand what he said most of the time. I was so excited to take chicano studies and to learn ! but I didn't. he gets off topic a lot, tired taking 102 with him give him a second try and nope I couldn't ending dropping the class. hes lectures are very long and so boring.

To be honest, I have no idea what I even learned in this class. Somehow I passed with an A. John is a great guy and is passionate about what he does. He spends too much time trying to inspire students rather than teach, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Class was very boring for me. But, definitely an easy A as long as you turn in assignments.

Prof. Valdez is a nice professor. You can tell he has a passion for this subject. He gets sidetracked a lot, so sometimes it takes a while to get to the actual material he's teaching. Assignments are easy. Most answers to the questions he gives out can be found in the textbook required for this class.

Honestly you won't regret taking him. If you are on task on every assignment then you will get a very good grade. He goes over all the assignments with you like the answers.. But yeah he does take a lot of time on one answer so just be patient. Very good class though.

seriously dreaded going to his class 2 days a week. He was horrible at teaching, half the time he'd be talking about random stuff that had nothing to do with material. He almost never had concrete due dates leaving you confused. In short, i couldnt stand going to his class.. i found him to be a very poor teacher with bad organization. DONT TAKE HIM

A lot of fellow students thought this class was boring. But if you participate you will be interested in the issues, and he might even inspire students to take action in the community to change the unfairness going on. The work load was fair. He is so awesome! Some professors don't care to even learn your name but he is so caring! He's funny too. His assignments are super easy, sometimes class can get boring but what class doesn't? He extends the due date for assignments a lot too. Overall, really easy-going guy! Take his class, easy A.

He's a good teacher but tends to drone on and on. His lectures aren't exciting and i fell asleep a lot. He's unorganized and repeats the same material a LOT. If you want a nap class take him, but don't expect to learn much form him. He puts assignments off and is all-over-the-place.
