Great guy and super helpful with all your questions. he loves in class discussions and is very easy going. I like how its mostly presentations and he sits back and lets the students teach too. His tests are from his study questions.

This course required a tremendous amount of reading, as well as preparations for multiple presentations. A considerable bit of work, but I learned a lot. Dr. West is reasonable and knowledgeable.

He knows his stuff but his class can be boring at times. The tests aren't super hard but you have to study for them. He is pretty lenient on grading papers. Overall, a good teacher.

Comment:

Yes, the class is very reading intensive and the tests are SUPER challenging, but a) you can turn your papers in the last day of the semester for only 3% points off, and b)West gives you a million opportunities at the end of the semester to bring your grade up. He'll suggest a lot of ways to help your grade if you go to office hours.

Dr.West is a very knowledgable professor. He makes the course even more interesting with his lectures and projects. He is not easy but he gives many assignments and quizes that give you a fair chance. I learned lots in his class and will definetly take more with him if I can.

okay, so he's probably super smart and very knowledgable on his subject... but honestly... he's REALLY BORING. he basically reads off power points all class and then assigns ridiculous amounts of reading (plus you ahve to buy like 4 books for this ONE class). he's really nice but its not enough to keep me awake.

Excellent Professor. Dr. West is one of the hardest working profs at UM. Also a real nice guy. The class is a lot of work, but well worth it.

This was my easiest class as a freshman. All that was important was the journals. Gave room for class discussion and encourage the participation of all the students. Bought in alot of guest speakers and had lunch with us at the RAT!

The class is composed mainly of powerpoint presentations and case study movies. A good class with a lot of reading. Prof. West doesnt do a whole lof of lecturing but he is very honest, fair, flexible, and understanding with the class. I recommend him.

Dr. West is the best ever! He demands that his students think with clarity and purpose. He's responsible for the development of UM's stellar public administration program. Lazy "conservatives" (liberals w/a mortgage) need not register for his classes b/c he'll definitely take you beyond the sound bites of Fox TV!

I really enjoyed Prof. West. He's very friendly and a fair grader. We did have a large writing segment for our grade, but nothing too difficult. I would definitely take this class again. I didn't see him as being very leftist, and I'm conservative. Encouraged a lot of discussion in class.

This man is extremely leftist, so those conservatives out there looking to take his class, make sure you really want to put up with liberal attacks on your morale from every corner. He's not very helpful in class, and he is not by any means a lenient grader.
