Smokin Joe is right! Get ready to spend weeks on 3 chapters then 8 chapters in the last 4 weeks of class. I now have a vile hatred for parabolas... but, he is a decent man and if you actually show up for class and participate you will pass. Lots of homework that you need to do. Calculus is no joke.

Joe knows his math, that's for sure, but TEACHING is not his strong suit. If you take DeSanto, DO NOT MISS A CLASS: You will be so far behind and it's impossible to catch up. Don't bother asking for clarification on something, either. He'll ignore you. I got an A in MAT111, but that was because of MY hard work outside of class. Get a tutor.

Absolutely LOVES teaching math. Calc is not an easy subject, and you absolutely MUST do the homework and study to do well in these classes. Fantastic help outside of class. Wants his students to succeed both in class and in a career, AND IT SHOWS. Excellent!

Great teacher. He assigns plenty of homework, but doesn't collect. His tests are 100% fair, and often have a bonus question. Easy to understand, and gives plenty of time to study for exams. He really cares about his students. He paces the semester so you have a strong understanding of the fundamentals. I would definitely recommend this professor.

Great Instructor. Aced his class; he spoon feeds the easy stuff and then starts to pick up the pace. Will go out of his way to help you with anything, even if it is not related to his class. Wish more of the LCCC math instructors were like him.

Before I started attending his classes, my math skills really sucked. Mr. DeSanto's method of teaching, to some, may seem unfair, but I think he did an awesome job! He was there whenever anybody needed additional help. He didn't just care about the students' math skills...he cared about their future as well! I definitely recommend him to anyone!

Mr. DeSanto was the best math professor that I have had. He is extremely helpful if you ask for help, and show you are interested in helping yourself. Even after you are through with his class, he will still help you in other technical fields, or other mathematical classes. As for textbook use, he only ever assigns homework from it.

they call him Smokin Joe, cuz it can get pretty crazy when the chalk is flying 110mph. however, dont let that disturb you, Mr. DeSanto is one of the best at LCCC imho. he teaches the courses well and will help you learn it and pass. He is the just ask type of guy. He is very involved with, and cares about the students and their future careers!

Smokin Joe he definitely is! First two weeks he covered one chapter... now he flies! Don't get me wrong, he's a good teacher and covers material, and is more than willing to help individual students, however, you need good math skills to pass.

Very tough subject to understand if not math oriented.If you are an EET major, he is very helpful as he combines Math 111 and EET problems into his teaching. Starts slow but by mid semester he begins covering a chapter a week.
