Comment:
Harrington's old school when it comes to teaching. You need to show up because he doesn't use powerpoints.Lectures are fast paced so make sure to pay attention during lectures. He's a tough grader but fair. You shouldn't take his classes if you want to skate through a his course. You need to read, check your papers and actually try.

Interesting class and he knows his thing. Be sure, however, you focus on his class. He has little tolerance for anyone who falters. He tends to hold grudges and is quite mean, insulting actually, to students who under-preform. He focuses heavily on grammar, so even if your content is decent you can fail a paper if it's not proof read.

HARD! But, he know's what he's talking about and he can be quite funny at times. When you have to write papers make sure you use a lot of quotes (over 15)and for the Obligations of American Citizen paper you need to list at least 6 obligations to get a decent grade: Education, religion, obide & uphold laws, pay taxes, jury duty, pledge alliegence :)

I had him the fall of 2004. I absolutely hated his class. I thought he was pretty funny at first, but his lectures are fast paced. The tests are general, but specific at the same time, based off the notes you take and the volumes of books he has you buy. Almost no one got a grade above a C in my class except the suck-ups.

He is an awesome teacher and makes history interesting, he's really funny, but he talks really fast-note driven (tests), books are only used for the projects-start them early

History is an interesting subject. However, this class is all lectures and it gets very redundent. This professor expects a lot for everyone. It is a difficult class and hard to pass.

The man is a plethura of knowledge. He is by far the best professor/teacher I have ever had. He is the antithesis of Roberta Roberts, who by her ratings seems to be the anti-christ. I was sorry to see Harrington retire, he was just a great guy.
