Dr. Pratt he is hands down the best professor I have taken throughout my entire college career (I took three classes with him!) He is incredibly knowledgable, willing to help and really makes you eager to learn more. His courses are straight forward and expectations are clear, but don't take that as an easy A; you will have to work for it.

I took him for The History of US Energy Policy. His class influenced my perspective in profound ways. Be prepared to read and write, listen and discuss. Super knowledgeable and a top notch professor.

Go and listen to all the lectures. The chem professor & Dr. Pratt do a good job explaning what they expect from you on the tests. The tests are all short ans/essay. There is no final, instead there is a group project of creating a website with information. There are two exam and a project. It comes with DAILY QUIZZES! Lots of cushion grades (hwk,et

Dr. Pratt is THE person at UH to go to for oil history. He's an accomplished historian, teacher, and author. HE IS NOT FOR SLACKERS. If you're not ready to proofread your papers three to four times, be prepared for low marks.

Intro to Energy and Sustainability class. I walked in barely knowing anything about energy and left wanting to know even more. This was one of the classes I actually WANTED to go to this semester and he's so helpful and personable. He's also very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. Very interesting class.

He's an amazing teacher! He explains the material very clearly. As long as you do what he says and go over the lecture notes before his tests, you should be fine. The tests are pretty straight forward. He does emphasize on oil history but it's pretty interesting!

US Energy Policy. Greatest professor at UH. Material is fascinating, and Pratt does a great job of lecturing. Class was discussion based, so participation and attendance were crucial. Tough grader on papers, but is willing to discuss and look over drafts. Learned more in this one class than in my entire freshman year, take him if you want to learn!

It's not a class you can breeze through. You definitely need to do the reading and attend lecture. I've never done well in history classes, but Pratt made it really easy to understand. He holds review sessions like crazy because he genuinely cares if his students want to pass. I would recommend.

He has TOO MUCH EMPHASIS on oil-based history. There is hardly any mention of any other history after 1877. My 1377 class covered everything up until 1877, and I expected Pratt to do the same. He DOES NOT. I wanted to learn more about post-Civil War history, & I did not get that with this course. Unless you have an interest in oil, don't take him.

My problem were the test. He's great and interesting but his test are free response plus an essay. We had to do a "Finding History" project which was quite easy but the test make up most of the class grade. If you're going to take this class you HAVE to read everything that he tells you.

USES ALOT OF EMPHASIS ON OIL HISTORY. MINIMUM ON ACTUAL HISTORY AFTER 1877. Challenging class, with deep discussion, but exams are fair. VERY helpful however. TA'S okay.
