This course was simple in comparison to what it could've been. He was understanding on how busy and stressed the students were and cut the final paper length. The readings are a lot if you aren't used to reading a book a week but you learn how to and then it becomes simple. He is very knowledgeable and helpful to students. I would take him again.

He is the best. He is funny and always in a good mood. He is great at presenting the material and knows exactly what he's talking about. The test are all essay. Don't let this scare you. They are very easy and he will give you an idea of what they are on before the test. Also, he allows you to bring notes for the test. TAKE HIM

Dr. Buchenau is a very knowledgeable professor, but I did not enjoy this class. I just was not interested at all. Maybe it was because I'm not hate biggest history buff or it was an 8AM class. He did show great movies for some units. He also allows you to use notes on exams/tests. I didn't see the books as necessary reads. Gives lots of EC as well.

Nice, helpful professor. He knows what he is talking about and has lots of experience. Just keep up with the readings and study! Don't think because tests are open book then they will be easy, you still need to know the material. I took this class because it was required but ended up enjoying it, he is a really good professor.

Buchenau very entertaining and his personal Mexican past has given him unique perspectives which he passes along to students. Class not "easy". You need to read and attend class. Exams are essay format; open book. He permits audio recordings, which helped me tremendously. Great Professor!!

Excellent teacher. I thought he did a good job of explaining things so I could connect the dots. History has always been a rocky road for me and it all depends upon the teacher. No surprises from this teacher. Go to class, do the reading and ask questions. Easy A. Thanks!

I took Dr. Buchenau several times...He is a awesome professor, he really looks after his students that work...I made As and Bs on his papers/classes. He was one of reasons I went into my second major and my masters in teaching english as second language...Very inspiring teacher!!!!

He is a wonderful teacher. You can tell he is very passionate about teaching. Knows the material and is excited about teaching it. Makes jokes often, easy to listen to. Class is easy. Essay tests and multiple choice quizes. Definately take his class.

Nice guy, but he makes the class harder than it has to be. His quizes are the hard part. Require a lot of studying. Dont take if you are trying to find an easy elective for an A.
