His powerpoints are basically just pictures, so you need to be in class to get the info. His lectures are lengthy, kind of confusing, and he goes on tangents. He'll tell you stuff that isn't in the textbook that you will need to know for tests, so if you missed it in class, you're out of luck. You MUST read the textbook, he will know if you don't.

Kamazima is just straight up rude. He says whatever he feels and doesnt care if he insults you, he bashes you in front of the entire class after you do your group presentation. He also assigns things but doesnt give you a due date or instructions. The essay assigned this semester was "to write about the California drought", I honestly dislike him.

Kamazima has shaped my experience at Stony Brook to be better than I could have ever imagined. He is available for advice 247, is realistic with you when he thinks you can do better, and pushes people to do their absolute best. He's an amazing person despite the reviews below and without him I would not have had the success I did in undergrad.

Class was difficult but he made it very clear cut. Just one midterm which did not count as much as long as you did very well on the final project, which was a huge part of the final grade for the course. You can learn a lot from this guy! Down to earth kind of professor.

Attendance - mandatory. Class participation counts as 50%. Book was used extensively. We had to come up with a question for each powerpoint. Wasn't a very clear teacher, didn't give us clear directions. Many people ended up with 40s and 50s so he changed his cut off point for passing to 40. Which was good because otherwise many people wouldn't pass

W/out a doubt, worst educational experience of my life. did not show up for the first class. Lwiza continually walked in and out of class. not easy to ask a question of a man who sighs with discontent upon seeing a raised hand.

Professor does not seem to understand that he needs to explain his standards. Did not tell class what he wanted for group presentations until a group had already gone. Final report is due in three days and he still has not said anything about it. All in all a worthless teacher

Kamazima seems like a nice person until you get to group presentations. He degrades you in front of the class until the pretense of helping. His lectures were completely worthless, learned more from the student's presentations on the book than his lectures.

if ur taking the class for an upper division elective, DONT. this class is really hard and it has a big 10 page project involving satellite image manipulation. take EST 330 or something easier, unless you have to take this class. you will only get an A in this class if you work ur butt of like crazy and lose plenty of sleep.
