Comment:
Professor Mehuron clearly laid out the assignments on canvas. It is lecture heavy but the attendance does not count so you can afford to miss some class and be fine. I didn't turn in some assignments so that obviously impacted my grade a lot. Just be aware of deadlines and you should be fine. Reading is also a bit hard and book is required

My experience was that she was not helpful when I was struggling. She tended to ignore emails, and ignore problems that students had. She grades based on "spelling/grammar errors". I had to even contact the Dean in order to get a hold of her via email.

Avoid--I hate classes where your grade is dependent on someone else, if your not a women studies major or philosophy major please avoid

Nice, but made a difficult topic almost unbearable. The professor was not able to present the ideas of the philosophers, or of phenomenology itself with any clarity at all. By the end of the class only 10 students were left, though many of them stopped attending regularly. Very nice, not demanding, but simply did not make the topic accessible.

I hated this class. It genuinely was terrible. The course load was way too intensive and the topic was mind numbing. Don’t take this class unless you absolutely have to. And don’t let these other reviews fool you, she isn’t really that “niceâ€. -__-

The single best professor I've had. She makes you work and she makes you think. You definitely have to earn your grade; there's no skating by. I learned more in the weeks I took her course than my previous two years in college. She is tough, smart, and fantastic.

Simply put, she doesn't teach. She has everyone sit around in a circle and discuss things--usually irrelevant--until the class ends. If I wanted to talk to my classmates about the material, I'd go to Philosophy Club.

I had Dr. Mehuron for a few classes some years back and loved every one of them. Naturally she demands a lot from her advanced students, but you will learn so much.

There are 3 different books required for the class (novels) which is kind of a pain in the @$$ I haven't learned that much from her, she isn't that personal. There is a web component with the class (emuonline) which is where you take your quizes/assignments/exams. She's very clear on what she wants.

She is the reason that I came to EMU, she does demand that you have a functioning brainstem, but it's only as difficult as you make it out to be.

Not exactly the best teacher, but she knows what she's talking about. She's vague in what she wants from the class, and also has a tendency to take over class discussion (which is a huge part of the grade). The class would be more interesting with a different teacher, but hey, it could be worse.

Mehuron is horrible. I wish that i could describe how horrible she is with specific examples, but that would give away my identity so I will not. However, having said this, she is very smart and if you do the work, you will do well in her courses. Nevertheless, stay away from her courses at all cost. Take Crouch or Jones or Reed or anyone else.

She knows a lot on the topic, and has some really great ideas. But if you don't have a background in philosophy or women's studies, it can be quite difficult. It's a good, challenging class, and you will work very hard. Overall, not a bad class.

Wow, I had her a few years ago for an intro class and it was great. She really stimulated some "thinking" and conversation. Although, if you like minimal work, thought, and such, then it's not for you.
